Have you eaten any moon cake yet ?

the moon will soon rise and fill with light
the ordinary folks will be raised from their grief
the rabid dogs and thugs will plan their flight
the weak and the bullied will fill with great relief

the moon will soon shine upon the evil pack
the bullies and hooligans will dig their graves
the evil and vile will receive their tags
one by one will be buried with their sordid tales

Yes. The ordinary folks will rise from their grief. Fuck the PAP! :oIo:

After the Parliament sitting on Monday, Members of Parliament took part in a birthday party in the Members' Room to celebrate Mr Lee Kuan Yew's 90th birthday. The party included a short video from the labour movement featuring well wishes from workers. (MCI photo)

SINGAPORE: Singapore's founding Prime Minister and former Minister Mentor, Lee Kuan Yew, received a standing ovation from Members of Parliament and Cabinet Ministers in Parliament's Chamber on Monday on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

The standing ovation came after Leader of the House and Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen delivered a special address to congratulate Mr Lee on the occasion.

Dr Ng noted that Mr Lee has been a member of Singapore's legislature for 58 years since 1955 when he was elected into the first Legislative Assembly of Singapore.

"But it is what Mr Lee has accomplished for Singapore over that lifetime of service and struggle that is astonishing and without peer," said Dr Ng.

On behalf of all Members, Dr Ng expressed Singaporeans' profound admiration and gratitude on Mr Lee's birthday.

Dr Ng said: "Shakespeare wrote, 'Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them'.

"Singapore was not born into greatness but hardship and poverty. Mr Lee through his singular mission and dedication steered this country into independence and laid the very foundations that transformed Singapore into a modern and thriving metropolis.

"He led and forged a nation which today is admired worldwide for its prosperity, harmony and stability. In lifting an entire nation and improving countless lives of Singaporeans of several generations, Mr Lee Kuan Yew has left a lasting legacy for all of us and achieved greatness.

"Madam Speaker, Members of this House are delighted to be able to share this special occasion on his 90th birthday, with Mr Lee in this House, and he has made special efforts to be in this House and against doctor's advice. All MPs wish him happiness and continued good health. Happy Birthday!"

In a Facebook posting, Minister of State for National Development and MP for Jurong GRC, Desmond Lee, said Mr Lee later cut a birthday cake at a simple party with MPs and Parliament staff.

He was wheeled into parliament at 4:20pm, just as Monday’s session was about to be adjourned for the day.

Minister for Social and Family development Chan Chun Sing was in the middle of his response to an adjournment motion on children in disadvantaged families when he paused mid-sentence as three men wheeled Lee Kuan Yew to his seat in the first row facing the cabinet, between Lam Pin Min and Mah Bow Tan.

As he was unable to stand on his own, the three men helped lift him out of his silver wheelchair and into his seat. Wearing his signature black New Balance sneakers, long black socks and regular Parliamentary attire of a white shirt, black pants and a plain black jacket, Lee was there for a special reason.

Singapore's first prime minister, who turned 90 on Monday, was celebrated for his long service in Parliament, as well as his contributions to the country, and was given a 30-second standing ovation by MPs present — some of whom arrived at around 4pm seemingly just to witness the occasion.

Respect and loyalty cannot be misplaced.

What so great about a tyrant who imprisoned people without trial whom he sees as a political threat to him?

Despite having LKY's father whose gambling habit puts strains on his relationship with his wife (LKY's mother). His father would gamble at the Chinese Swimming Club and at times return home in an angry mood, demanding jewellery from his wife (LKY's mother) to pawn for more funds to continue.

the greatness of a man is reflected in the greatness of the legacy he left behind
from a third world squatter slum to a first world modern metropolis in just one generation
this magnificient feat itself is a grand testimony of the greatness of mr lee kuan yew
no other leader of the world could achieve such a grand feat within such a short period of time
singaporeans should be eternally grateful to this great and wonderful man

happy happy birthday sir!!!
majulah mr lee kuan yew!!!

So far my favourite moon cake is Goodwood Park Durian Moon cake. Bloody expensive! Can only afford to buy ONE!!!

But I still prefer th Tai Chong Kok moon cake . I bought mine at Taka. Still avoidable...nice salted egg yoke. Very nice paste and traditionally still the best moon cake.

Tried the Hua Ting and Tung Lok - so so only lah.

Do you mean "Still affordable" ?

Egg yolk versus yoke of oxen

You will surely be my First Customer, heehee.
Happy Mooncake Festival!

BTW, all those mooncake sellers used Toothpicks for you to try their monncakes.
Dont know "Somebody" got collect those FREE toothpicks or not?

Mooncake is best cut into small pieces and eaten using premium toothpicks.

Make sure you buy the premium toothpicks. If you can't afford premium toothpicks, just use ordinary ones. Don't take them in bulk from restaurants.

Those toothpicks are collector's item...

Only thing missing in this photo are 3 sticks of incense and 2 candles.

Are they preying? oops! praying...that short Hylam is behind the seated! & what's that PINK Tie?? this goes well with the Mee Siam Mai Hum...

Birthday boy: Son! can you tell 'zorro' over there..please don't sing "happy birthday"...my bones will rattle.

lianbeng replies kopiuncle: yes, uncle, i have! :D but i have lost count how many liao!

I think the Tai Chong Kok is still the best. Just take the one salted egg yolk mooncake will do. Soon the festival will be over and we will be waiting for our Lunar New Year...The Year Of The Horse. An auspicious year for many after The Year Of The Snake. Stay healthy always. Stay active, nimble and vigilant too.
