Serious Has Kee Chiew just admitted Covid-19 cock-up?

the last time electoral voters really give a slap on miw wrist was due to perception too many foreigners on the island. Now will the voter give miw a slap across the face because of foreigners took over too many of the local PMET jobs? Such as the DBS hiring india nationals dependant pass holders instead of a local. Today while on a bus along pasir panjang road, 3 ladies boarded the bus, two were jiuhubu(by their accent and dialect) and a local grabfood deliverywoman. All about the same age yet the juihubus are orbi ladies while the local have to delivery food under the hot sun. if the local can tahan being a grabfood delivery, what sort of low level office job she not willing to try?
I already give up on local political thinking. older folks only think about their value of their flats while the young one dont care about their own future. let see the current economic and lack of jobs to locals can get the locals to wake up their bloody ideas.
Singaporean are reasonable and like you describe the grabfood delivery woman, very willing to give to the nation.
but after GE-2015 its time Singaporean wake up to the following:

1) the present leader running the nation has no heart for Singaporean, they cherish the worker at the dorm than out elderly and our children. no test to elderly and the children before May-20-2020 (means what Singaporean more resilient to virus than the worker at the dorm ?

2) the MPs take high salary but before we are out of the Circuit breaker, already PM.Lee tell Singaporean to take pay cut (while they continue to collect high salary) this shows that they only think of themselves as white collar in Singapore-Inc. if they truely serving the people they would have reduced or give up their salary when the nation are at critical time.

3) one MP call me idiot during his closed door conference. just because it is not public activities doesn't means an MP is suppose to use such term on the citizen. worst none of the MP actually point out it is unbecoming of an MP to call citizen such, even PM.Lee did nothing. this means silently they agree that Singaporean are idiot, low intelligent and only they are the elite.

4) Singapore is no longer a fishing village and we are no longer fisherman. Our Singaporean young generation grad from ITE / Poly and University. but PAP let foreigner from india, philippine, vietnam and china into Singapore to compete with Singaporean. Is India, Philippine, vietnam, china university standard same as Singapore ?

it is time I would have to for the sake of my children I have to risk my present comfort and my child's comfort for a change.
The change may or may not be better, but its time for a change.
the next leader not better, we change again, why ?
because the present leader will never switch to have a heart for me or my child as in their eye, we are not their concern.
their concern is how to have high GDP so that they can continue to be paid high salary.

Taking care of the FWs is to show to the world what a caring government. As for singaporean just give some cash can settle.
They want international image not caring for the people.

As for Hong Kong, its Chief Executive Carrie Lam initially told public officials on 4 February not to wear masks because of mask shortage. After a public outcry, the no-face-mask policy was promptly reversed. To send out a unified message, Lam and her senior aides began putting on masks in public. It also helped that most Hongkongers remembered the 2003 SARS outbreak and took the initiative to wear masks even when the authorities said there was no need to. To solve the shortage problem, the Government approached 400 suppliers in about 20 countries to buy more masks. At the same time, volunteers and female inmates from the Correctional Services were mobilized to help boost production of masks to 90,000 a day or 2.5 million masks a month. According to a survey done in March 2020, 99% of the people reported wearing face masks when leaving home.

In the case of Singapore, it was only on 3 April, after infection rate showed signs of trending up, that the government made an apparent “U-turn” announcing that the authorities will “no longer discourage people from wearing masks” because of concerns that some cases in the community were going undetected. Notably, this was precisely the 4 doctors’ recommendation given earlier on in February.

The Government’s policy reversal came almost two months too late. By then, there were two separate outbreaks – one in the migrant worker dormitories and another in the rest of society. Because people were told not to wear face mask and to continue their daily life, there was now a “reservoir” of unidentified asymptomatic carriers. On April 3, to stop them from infecting others, stringent circuit-breaker measures, scheduled to last till May 4, were announced to restrict people’s movements. On 14 April, people were finally told they must wear a mask when they leave their house. Finally, on 21 April, the circuit breaker was not only enhanced but also extended by another 4 weeks from May 4 to June 1.

Hence, within a span of about three months, Government’s position on whether or not to wear face mask had gone from “no need” to “no longer discourage” and finally “mandatory”. The procrastination and reactive stance resulted eventually in not only high infection rates but also the implementation of harsh “circuit breaker” measures amounting in effect to a lockdown.

Masks don't make a scrap of difference. If anything they increase the transmission rate.
