Has any of you ever undergone a ketonic diet before?

Anyone tried atkins and other such diets? These aren't fad diets btw they have been proven to work.
 
Are you talking about ketosis? I've read about it during the 90s when I was still a healthnut. Apparently it was discovered by scientists who studied the dietary habits of eskimos. They were puzzled by how eskimos remain lean by consuming whale meat and blubber for extended periods. It turns out the body will lose weight if you eliminate carbohydrates from your diet.

Stars like whoopi goldberg and oprah often used it in preparation for gala events. They would have steak for breakfast, bacon for lunch etc.. Apparently it is a very fast acting and effective way of losing weight.

It fell out of favour with doctors because it was damn unhealthy in the long run.

It has its side effects. The effects appear like 2 days at least after the body enters ketosis. Unable to sleep well, bad breath, body aches and other stuff, there's quite a long list of them but one will get better after drinking lots of water. It's bad over the long run though and should not be attempted over a long period.



Actually ketosis is the usage of the body's fat in replacement of glucose which is not in abundance in a person undergoing a ketonic diet. Therefore fat stores are used which explains why ppl become lean.
 
I remember that ketosis is bad if your are working/studying. Your brain will not work optimally since it needs carbo/sugar to crank.
