What went wrong?
1. Using immigrant population to boost a fedlging economy and achieve GDP gains at all costs. Export down, Govt Spending limited, Foreign Investment down, only way is pushing up consumption.
2. Internal infrastructure not ready for influx of population.
3. Lack of proper screening and clueless about what the 'real' kind of talents are....students, prostitutes, pinoys, ah nehs...chinaman and pei du mamas...
4. Escort Pass, Special Pass, Whore Permit....US Green card cost min. USD 800, SGP = SGD 90....cheap cheap.
What could have been done...
5. To create jobs for S'poreans, FTs should 'complement' Sporeans at work, eg: doing the shit work so that S'poreans can knock off swee swee at 5.30pm and have time for wife and babies.
6. Create a better scheme (degrees and scholarships) to enhance the sjills and knowledge for S'poreans....not WDA and SPURS for S'poreans and degrees and scholarships for NUS Sun Xie PRCs and Ah Nehs...
