Nothing much to shop at Central World, prefer MBK etc... but will miss the huge open air plaza...

:p

This is called the Scorched Earth strategy.

Also used by retreating Russians against napolean and the nazis.

But by destroying the livelihood of the Bangcock people, the Red shits will lose popular support. Their movement is screwed.

Bangkok people has never cared for the Red Shirts

Bangkok people are fairer, having some Chinese blood.

Bangkok people see the red shirts as brown coloured low classed people.

Bangkok people has always bullied the poor.....

Ironically, Taksin the Great was Teochew Chinese (original family name 郑), Rama I of the still reigning Chakri dynasty was Teochew Thai, Thaksin Shinawatra is Hakka Chinese (orginal family name 邱) and Abhisit Vejjajiva also Hakka Chinese (original family name 袁). All fair skinned, whichever way you choose.
Bangkok was founded by Rama I of Chakri dynasty. It's original Thai name was Rattanakosin, later became Krungthep Mahanakorn (meaning the Great City of His Majesty). The name Bangkok was Chinese in origin. Because Rattanakosin was tongue-twisting, some Chinese-speaking Thais that time used 盘谷 (meaning river-plate valley), later westerners translated it to Bangkok and even later foreign Chinese re-translated it to 曼谷 in Chinese nowadays.

Bangkok full official ceremonial name is " Krungthep Mahanakorn Amorn Ratanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilokphop Noparajrachathani Burirom Udomrajanives Mahasathan Amornpimarn Avartarnsthit Sakathathiya Vishnukraam Prasith " therefore both Rattanakosin and Krungthep are part of the full name

As for Bangkok it was originate from the Thai name of the old village in existence since Ayuthya period. Thais pronounce the old name 'Baarng Ma Gork' (_long vowel at Baaaaarng and Gooork). It means the place of which Makork is plentiful_ Makork is some kind of fruit tree, Barng Ma Gork in time became shorten to BarngKork, Barng means a place of which _ _ _ _, you still can find many places, towns or cities in Thailand begin with Barng like in Bangkok you have BarngRaak, Barng Lumpoo, Barng Sue etc

Of course, farangs can not pronounce bangkok the way the Thais pronounce so it became Bangkok, _a place where one can bang his kock

I used to try to correct you a couple time, turned out I was a joker myself, but for this instance I am 100% sure of what I typed

so ramseth is wrong in the sense that bangkok did not originate from a chinese name?

Here's something i don't understand. Most of the red shirts are from the poorer north and north east. Issan is close to cambodia hence it's understandable why they have brown skin. What about the ppl from the north? The north is pretty close to china especially changmai so wouldnt' they look more chinese instead of brown skinned?

I also read that the central thais rule thailand. Central thais are mostly brown to fair skin but they aren't as fair as the northern thais they actually have the same skin tone as the malays. Since the central thais rule thailand i trust most of the red shirts aren't from central thailand.

Perhaps someone could explain this to me.

That was a version I heard. Quite convincing since it has rhyme and reason. But reading your version, I'm sure yours is correct. Thanks.

I also read that the central thais rule thailand.

Most of the real Thais have darker colour skin, be it southern, central, issarn or northern but not far north like chiang mai or chiang rai( due to geography and cooler climate they tend to be of fairer skin )

fairer skin colour Thais was the result of intermarriage with the chinese migrants through generation which was common unlike in Malaysia which was prohibited by religion, fair skin Thais are mostly city dwellers as chinese are into trade and business not labour or agriculture, but nowaday because of mass migration from the poor rural seeking greener pasture, darker skin Thais are just as everywhere, so when the red shirt invaded_ they already had ready pool of supporters in Bangkok

not quite correct to say central thais rule thailand, happen to be that Bangkok is in the central

ok understooded. Then again despite having the same skin tone thais have these 4 regions have differeces like language and culture like take issan for eg. I understand that their spoken thai and written thai is different from the rest of thailand.

Bangkok people detested and bullied the Red Shirts, that's why they protested.

The farmers and villagers want the Elite Bangkok people to know that there is another Thailand in the North and Northeast that Thaksin cares.

The game is - the Yellow Shirts took over the Airport and cost Thailand billions of loss revenue; so the Red Shirts too can takeover Business District and cost Thailand billions as well.

So all is fair and square. Now let's all get back to planting rice and pampering the tourists - and worship the Royal Family who has kindly agreed to help the families of those killed in the undeclared civil war.

Not they are Squared, what will be next?. One thing I notice was, arms & any other weapons are easily obtained in Thailand, the Red Shirts could have gotten those & have a shoot out with the police & army; but they didn't do that. What was used, fireworks, burning tires, molotov cocktails, bamboo poles; sling shots...The reason was clear, we are peaceful demonstrators, if you push us too far; we will retaliate with basic weapons. From observation, the number of dead is lesser for a confrontation of this size anywhere in the world. It was a game of I embarrass you, you embarrass me...and both side testing each other, on how FAR CAN WE Go!

What will the SINgapore government do, if they are faced with a crowd like these?, will they be like the Abihtshit government, allow the protest to reach a crescendo?

Or the people here have no guts, even their basic rights had been breached & push beyond their endurance?

All ethnic Thais in all Thailand are generally of darker brown. The fairer yellow ones are ethnic Chinese or half-Chinese Thai through parental or even ancestral intermarriages. They're all over Thailand too. So, it's hard to say northern is fairer or southern is darker. There's a mix everywhere.

A scenario like this, Singaporeans will have to look up to Tonychat's leadership and his big balls rheotorics.

So do we see a trend on Hakka people?

Thai Chinese are generally Teochew and Hakka. The early Chinese immigrants assimiliated themselves into Thai culture and established them well, taking control of both economy and politics (unlike Malaysian Chinese who took control of economy but not politics, but that's another story). If there's a trend, however faint, perhaps Thai Teochew are more inclined toward business and Thai Hakka are more inclined towards politics.
