In keeping with what is becoming tradition, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong has posted photos of himself having a grand old time while on holiday.
The Senior Minister, who went to Langkawi earlier this year, goes by @MParader on Facebook. This year he’s spending his vacation in Japan, where he has been posting pictures of himself in Okinawa and Osaka. He also said that he is currently in Kyoto (as of this writing, December 17th).
Mr. Goh has accompanied his posts with a running commentary on his observations while on vacation, from mentioning bumping into fellow Singaporeans who are also on holiday in Japan (and are asking for selfies with the Emeritus Senior Minister), to the number of tourists from the People’s Republic of China, to humorously wondering whether the Okinawan lion is the fraternal twin of Singapore’s own merlion.
The Emeritus Senior Minister’s first stop seemed to be in Okinawa, where on December 10 he posted photos of a traditional dance at the ‘Singapore GCT Golf Invitation in Okinawa 07-14 Dec 2018’ according to one banner. This is where Mr. Goh met the ‘fierce’ but ‘friendly’ Okinawa lion.
Four days later he again posted photos from Okinawa, where he had tuna sashimi for dinner. Amidst fanfare, authentic Japanese chefs are shown preparing the fish in the Emeritus Senior Minister’s photos.
By Sunday, Mr. Goh was already in Kyoto, all bundled up against the cold, and yet enjoying an ice cream while walking. Apparently, he tried to walk around incognito, but sharp-eyed fellow holiday-makers from Singapore spotted him easily.
