My point is that if the authorities do decide to detain someone who is going to know
One who is arrested won't be able to ask for a lawyer right? The local press will probably keep quiet about it. So how would anyone know that such persons have been detained under this law

Important to bear in mind that CLTP is totally different from the ISA. In its history, CLTP has never been abused to go against political dissidents.

CLTP is only for hard core criminals -- as Goldendragon said, drug pushers, secret society, etc. The process of extending the detention for a person and how duration of detention is decided is totally different from ISA.

Do our government still need ISA to deal with political dissidents? They should look at how it is done across the causeway. Just a simple sodomy charge, and a few person to carry a mattress to the court room, case close. Political dissident put away.
