'Global warming the greatest scam in history' claims founder of Weather Channel

THE debate about climate change is finished - because it has been categorically proved NOT to exist, one of the world's best known climate change sceptic has claimed.

Climate change has been 'disproved' and polar ice is 'increasing'
John Coleman, who co-founded the Weather Channel, shocked academics by insisting the theory of man-made climate change was no longer scientifically credible.

Instead, what 'little evidence' there is for rising global temperatures points to a 'natural phenomenon' within a developing eco-system.

**CLICK HERE TO SEE STUNNING ICEBERG IMAGES**

In an open letter attacking the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, he wrote: "The ocean is not rising significantly.

"The polar ice is increasing, not melting away. Polar Bears are increasing in number.

"Heat waves have actually diminished, not increased. There is not an uptick in the number or strength of storms (in fact storms are diminishing).

"I have studied this topic seriously for years. It has become a political and environment agenda item, but the science is not valid."

Man made climate change is a myth according to Coleman, inset
I have studied climate change seriously for years. It has become a political and environment agenda item, but the science is not valid

John Coleman, co-founder of the Weather Channel

Mr Coleman said he based many of his views on the findings of the NIPCC, a non-governmental international body of scientists aimed at offering an 'independent second opinion of the evidence reviewed by the IPCC.'

He added: "There is no significant man-made global warming at this time, there has been none in the past and there is no reason to fear any in the future.

"Efforts to prove the theory that carbon dioxide is a significant greenhouse gas and pollutant causing significant warming or weather effects have failed.

"There has been no warming over 18 years."

The IPCC argue their research shows that man-made global warming will lead to extreme weather events becoming more frequent and unpredictable.

US News and World Report noted that many of the world’s largest businesses, including Coke, Pepsi, Walmart, Nestle, Mars, Monsanto, Kellogg, General Mills, Microsoft, and IBM, "are now engaged and actively responding to climate science and data."

Mr Coleman's comments come as President Barack Obama came under fire from climatologists as federal data revealed The United State's energy-related carbon pollution rose 2.5 per cent despite the President's pledges to decrease it.

President Obama told 120 world leaders at the United Nations climate summit last month that America had done more under his watch in cutting greenhouse gases than any other country.

Despite this, the Energy Information Administration's Monthly Energy Review showed an increase in the use of energy from coal.
World leaders have pledged to keep the global average temperature from rising two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels to prevent the worst consequences of climate change.

The US, along with the UK and other developed countries, is expected to pledge further actions on climate change early next year.

GETTY

There has been no recorded global warming for 18 years
Climate expert William Happer, from Princeton University, supported Mr Coleman's claims.

He added: "No chemical compound in the atmosphere has a worse reputation than CO2, thanks to the single-minded demonisation of this natural and essential atmospheric gas by advocates of government control and energy production.

"The incredible list of supposed horrors that increasing carbon dioxide will bring the world is pure belief disguised as science."

The 2010 InterAcademy Council review was launched after the IPCC's hugely embarrassing 2007 benchmark climate change report, which contained exaggerated and false claims that Himalayan glaciers could melt by 2035.

The same thing was said about Y2k as nothing happened. 1st World countries are reaping the benefits of going green on so many fronts. Gone are the smog in cities, motorways and the neighbourhood. Go see China, India etc

I suppose there are extremes in both end of spectrum - overzealous tree huggers and the capitalist living in a pristine untouched location while the factories will beat any rules and regulations that come their way.

Take things with a pinch of salt.

Lots of stupid people in this world , this forum included. Global warming is as real as gravity. It doesn't mean that the world would not get colder winter. the corollary is colder winter does not mean the ice age is coming either. Basically global warming means the extremes of weather would get more severe and more widespread ie the winters would be colder and the summer would be hotter with more typhoons, floods, earthquake, volcanic eruptions, etc. only simpletons think a colder winter means global warming is a farce. Just like there are people who still believes the earth is flat. hahhahah

It's the water cycle which always gets warmer before it gets colder. The really really cold part will only arrive in 2032 and will last for a few decades, maybe half a century. It's also the time where the engines of economic growth will shift to Africa, South East Asia and Mexico.

The climate has never been a constant. Just because it's changing doesn't mean that mankind is to blame. All this crap about carbon emissions and taxes isn't going to change the climate one bit. However what it does do is create very lucrative "climate change mitigation" businesses that are milking the public purse.

Climate change is the snake oil of the modern era.

You right..Y2K was pure fear mongering by the IT companies looking to sell more software and equipment.

Global warming is also propagated by companies selling purported "green" equipment and lifestyle products.

It is so cold in the United States right now that sharks are dying and turtles are cold-stunned

Sharks are washing up on a beach in Massachusetts frozen completely solid amid a record-breaking cold snap in the United States.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy said it had found three dead thresher sharks stranded on the shore of the Cape Cod Bay in Brewster, south of Boston, in the last three days.

The first two were "likely stranded due to cold shock" it said. The third was frozen solid.

"This shark was too frozen to attempt a necropsy … a true sharkcicle," it said.

Thresher sharks are found all over the world and generally stay far away from the shore, in warmer waters.

"These sharks were most likely moving to the south with the warmer water and got caught in the hook of Cape Cod," the group said.

The minimum temperature for the Cape Cod region in December is usually about 1 degrees Celsius, but current forecasts have it reaching as low as -12C.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy said all three sharks would be examined once they thawed.

Meanwhile, sea turtles are also feeling the cold.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said it rescued more than a dozen sea turtles off the coast of Galveston Island that were "cold-stunned by freezing air temperatures".

The lethargic sea turtles were found by fisherman and taken to NOAA's Sea Turtle Hospital to recover.

"All 18 turtles were brought in for rehabilitation, where their body temperature was slowly increased prior to placement into water," the group said.

PHOTO NOAA said four of the turtles had already recovered and been released into warmer waters.

Enduring cold snap creates headaches at home, on highways

TOLEDO, Ohio — Already winter-weary parts of the Midwest and East Coast are dealing with a mounting number of weather-related headaches, from highway pileups to frozen pipes and a rash of car thefts. And there's more to come.

Bitter temperatures and snow squalls have been blamed for a handful of deaths and canceled a long list of New Year's celebrations.

Icy roads in central Michigan caused more than 30 crashes Friday on highways near Flint while a chain-reaction crash involving about 40 vehicles in the southwestern part of the state left three hurt.

Coastal South Carolina saw a rare bout of freezing rain and drizzle on Friday that forced bridges from Charleston to Myrtle Beach to shut down for de-icing.

Police in the Cincinnati area say a half-dozen cars have been stolen in recent days after being left running unattended by owners trying to warm them up. Cincinnati police warned in a tweet that leaving your car running means "the only person who will be warm is the thief who stole your car."

More snow is on the way in Erie, Pennsylvania, where 65 inches have fallen since Christmas Eve. Now parts of the surrounding county could get up to 16 inches of more snow by Sunday.

A call center set up to help people dig out has been overwhelmed. "The phones have been ringing off the hook," said Josh Jaeger, a coordinator for the center told the Erie Times-News.

Cleanup continued inside Michigan State University's basketball arena after a frozen water pipe burst and flooded a hallway, but the mess wasn't expected to interrupt a game Friday.

Diann Wears, of Toledo, said she was already fed up with winter as she stood along a slush-covered sidewalk while waiting for a bus.

"And it's just the beginning," she said Friday. "I'm sure it will get worse."

Frigid conditions in Boston took their toll on the nation's fifth-largest transit system.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has spent heavily to winterize what's known as the "T'' since it was crippled by record-breaking snowfall in 2015. But the agency reported "severe delays" on one of its lines Friday, citing a broken piece of track and a disabled train, among other problems.

Several deaths have been linked to the wintry weather during the past week.

In South Dakota, an 83-year-old woman died from exposure to the cold after she crashed her car and then got out to look for help. Search crews found her body in a ditch on Sunday. Three people were found dead in a canal along Lake Erie earlier this week after their car slid off an icy road.

The National Weather Service predicts another blast of arctic air will chill much of the eastern two-thirds of the U.S. through the weekend and into 2018.

Temperatures could fall into the single digits as far south as Oklahoma and sink to zero or below Friday night in Nebraska and Iowa and remain there for at least three days.

"It's pretty unusual to get that long of a streak where it's completely below zero," said Iowa's State Climatologist Harry Hillaker. "Historically, that doesn't happen very often in Des Moines."

The Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies braced for storms forecasters warned could bring several feet of mountain snow and freezing rain.

With the bitter cold expected to stick around, many New Year's Eve plans are being scuttled.

Shore towns in New Jersey canceled plans for polar bear plunges in the Atlantic Ocean and organizers pulled the plug on the annual light bulb drop in Sunbury, Pennsylvania.

In Boston, organizers of the L Street Brownies plunge scoffed when asked if they were scared off by the weather.

"It's a go. It's always a go. We never give up," Dan Monahan told the Boston Herald about the event that attracts more than 600 swimmers each year and has gone on for more than a century. "We're stubborn people in Boston. We're about tradition."

Fireworks shows have been called off in Omaha and at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey. And New York City's Coney Island says it will be too cold for free rides on the Wonder Wheel and Thunderbolt roller coaster.

Animal advocates urged people to protect their pets from the cold. Wild animals weren't immune from the dangers of winter, either.

In Ohio, wildlife officers mulled how to rescue a deer stuck on an ice-covered river. They managed to lasso the deer with a rope and pull it to shore Friday, but they had to euthanize the injured animal.

Of course there is global warming. In a few months it will be warm and another few months it will be cold again at this time. Don’t listen to the skeptics. You can see for yourselves.

The last "global warming" happened 400,000 years ago....there were hardly any humans or man-made pollutants then.
