I have been consistent in my condemnation of a minimum wage. It rewards incompetence and sloth by paying people way beyond their economic worth and worst of all, it is the ordinary, hardworking citizens who bear the brunt of the resulting high costs.
In NZ, the minimum wage has increased by almost 100% over the last 15 years and it has made no difference to the quality of life of the lower income groups.
This is because every time the minimum wage is raised, the price of everything goes up and we end up back at square one.
