A Bangladeshi worker inflicted fatal knife wounds on his Filipino girlfriend before killing himself, a coroner's inquiry found on Thursday.
On March 4 last year, 22-year-old Md Sumon Md Lutfar and 33-year-old Rezzilyn Lodia Vinegas were found dead in a Geylang hotel room.
Giving his findings on the case, State Coroner Imran Abdul Hamid said he did not think a third party had caused their deaths. Nor did he think the couple had agreed to end their own lives.
Closed-circuit television footage of the corridor outside the hotel room did not show anyone else walking towards their room at the time.
The inquest also heard that the mattress and pillow of the Bangladeshi, seized by the police from his dormitory, bore writing in Bengali including one which said "She is mine so I will not let her live".

A coroner's inquiry into the deaths of a Bangladeshi air-conditioner ducting worker and his Filipino maid girlfriend revealed that he had attacked her with a sharp object before turning the weapon on himself.
Yesterday, the court heard that the weapon used in the murder-suicide could be a multi-purpose knife similar to a Swiss Army knife.
Md Sumon Md Lutfar, 22 and Miss Rezzilyn Lodia Vinegas, 33, were found dead in a room at Summer Hotel at Lorong 22 Geylang on March 4 last year.
She was found with 20 external injuries including wounds to her ankles and left forearm. Md Sumon had eight external injuries including cuts on his neck and ankles.

No offence to the Pinoy/Pinay, it is a known fact amongst themselves, that they are seldom or never faithful to their partners. 'changing underwear' is a passion. This DH is milking money from this Bangladum. She is sending home, thousands of SGD, of course, the people back home are happy, what do they know, she is doing or they pretend not to. The "marriage" is just a cover, back home as well. The money buys, land, build houses, furnish & renovate it; pays for nieces, newphews education etc.. what is not new??
