1. Germany used to be the tournament team. At their peak they might have had fewer World Cups than Brazil but they had more appearances in finals and semi-finals.
2. They always win every penalty shoot-out. Superb temperament.
3. And never write the Germans off: time after time, 1-0 down, 2-1 down, they'll come back and win even in extra time.

That's why Gary Lineker said: "Football is a game where 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and in the end Germany win."
