Sometime, it is wiser not to burn bridge too early, he should not have shut that option during Aljunied election.

That would be a demotion - from Minister of Foreign Affairs to Ambassador/High Commissioner. But knowing the govt, I am sure they can snake past this matter by giving GY some other title or designation which sounds like a promotion!
