One of my favourite pass time game during childhood is catching spiders and if lucky enuff, earn some pocket money thou its only like 20 ~50 cents/per fight.

50 cents each. There are a few toy shops in North Bridge Road nearby, none sell old toys.

Bro, those days we are still very kechil lah. Young, ignorant and adventurous. We even catch centipedes and burnt them alive.:(

Wow you must be quite garang bees & centipedes also catch! i only remember kena stung by bees & centipedes while playing in the lalang grass or in the longkang.

I also kena chase by the anjing, jump & scratch my back & arms, lucky never bite. My friend lagi bad, he squat down & the anjing mounted him from behind

But serious ya. Those days its a common sight to see stray dogs roaming along kampong lanes.

I remember someone complain & 2 uncles came to shoot the strays, they were in a pack of 5, first 2 fell & the last 3 ran away, it was the first time i saw an animal killed apart from my mother slaughtering chicken, so a bit of a shock to see the dog jump a little & fell dead upon being shot

My time are all physical games, we have no electronic games or calculator....climb rambutan tree bitten by red ants, catch catfish with bare hand and gotten stung, hands slapping try to hit your friend hand as hard as possible with your palm, use baluku skin or longan seeds as ammo to shoot at each other with catapult when you get hit it will be blue and black all over our body.

If tat uncles were to do it now, they would be in deep shit. SPCA would come after them. Not the dogs. :o

i only know when i was young, i and a few of my neighbourhood friends chip in money to buy a rubber ball. those types that has either butterfly imprints on it or multicolours. it cost $1+. then, we will play soccer at the void decks. in the past, (not to stir race prob), its always the malay group will jio the chinese group to play soccer. and malays are natural soccer player, we will always lose to them.. but got 1 time, we win them, and i scored the most, and from that day, all the malay boys feared me by the way, the scoring can go as high as 18-19, because the goal post is the entire width of the inner void deck pillar!

also will go catch fish at those type of moonson canal.. got guppies,and 'japan fish'.. donno how to translate in english.. very fun.. we will be taking plastic bags filled with guppies. then go home, mother will scold. in extreme case, the cane will be used. now i old already, i understand her. because at a young age, playing in moonson canal is very dangerous...:o
