Pattaya-
The Pattaya City Police have detained a trio of security guards implicated in a recent violent altercation with tourists that we covered in full HERE. The incident, which has sparked widespread condemnation and raised concerns over the city’s image as a tourist destination, was captured on a viral video and has since circulated widely.
As the video could offend sensitive viewers, it will not be shared in this article.

At approximately 11:36 p.m. on May 26, 2024, Police Colonel Navin Teerawit, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, alongside his deputies, led a team to apprehend the individuals involved. The suspects, identified only as Mr. Ball, aged 27, Mr. Tom, aged 36, and Mr. Ice, aged 24, were taken into custody for questioning and further legal action.
The guards were reportedly part of an independent “freelance” contractor group for multiple independent bars, but not directly associated with any particular bar or group.
The suspects have admitted to their involvement in the incident, with Mr. Ball disclosing that he was allegedly initially assaulted by a tourist, resulting in injuries that required medical attention. Despite this provocation, the guards’ response has been widely criticized as excessive and damaging to Pattaya’s reputation, due to primarily one guard being seen appearing to kick a tourist in the head who was lying on the ground after being beaten previously.

Police Colonel Navin Teerawit has reprimanded the guards for their conduct, emphasizing that their role is to ensure the safety of tourists rather than instigate violence. He underscored the importance of restraint and the necessity of involving law enforcement to de-escalate conflicts.
In response to the incident, the superintendent has ordered a strict legal follow-up, ensuring that the guards face the consequences of their actions. The case is further supported by CCTV footage, which documents the escalation of the confrontation, providing key evidence for the investigation.
This incident has prompted a call for security personnel to maintain professionalism and composure, highlighting the delicate balance between enforcing order and preserving the welcoming atmosphere that is vital to Pattaya’s tourism industry.
The exact legal charges facing the guards were not immediately disclosed by Pattaya police.
Despite many rumors online, the condition of the tourist involved in the incident who appeared to be kicked in the head by a guard was still unclear. His friends who were also involved had apparently declined to file police reports or make any legal accusations and were trying to put the incident behind them without legal charges. However, due to the viral nature of the incident, that may now be impossible.
The Pattaya News will continue to give updates about this story as they are officially released by relevant authorities.
