What's the use of having so much certification ? I don't quite understand. It just says one thing is that one is very persistent with their effort. I have a friend who has taken 4 times O level. It 4 times taking and retaking O levels. The father has no choice but to support him. But it also exposed one critical flaw, it unable to turn corner and quite dead for him.

Now he is doing PHD in real estate. But of course he has a degree from US University, another master from NTU and doing PHD now. Unless one is doing research and doing some work which needed that kind of qualification.

This article is sponsored by MDIS. If you read the whole article, there is zero mention of the name of the University. So he is proud of the class of his Degree, but not the University that awarded the Degree.

It's anybody's guess if it's ranked 1,001st or 1,200th. Either one it's still
Money Dropped Into Sea.

MDIS? Hardly a school to shout about.

But it’s always the same old usual shit right? If he had remained an ITE grad and used solely that cert to do well, then that’s quite something.

If there’s one thing we can learn….ITE cert is not enough!

Anybody who has been to university will know that Masters and PhD are for those who want to pursue an academic career , orherwise the best students will go on to work after their first degree.

A few points:

- I suppose that he is a Singaporean, if he can't qualify for NUS and NTU due to the intake allocation for foreigners, taking the same path via SIM (now SUSS) is cheaper for him, because he can enjoy more subsidies than MDIS.

- Like white horses claiming to be from Oxford Brookes University, Leeds Beckett is not Leeds University, our local polytechnics and SUSS will be of higher standards.

- He is doing well because of his work experience, not because of his academic papers. The MDIS degree has hardly any value-added. He did well in his career because of his willingness to roll-up his sleeves to work in Oil & Gas Industry. His company valued him because of his specialist diploma training with BCA for safety management. Without these factors, his Masters Degree will not get him a similar paying job elsewhere.

NTU gives their own first class honors Indian/PRC bachelor students direct entry into their PHD program with scholarships and allowances + junior teaching positions.

You must be wondering why MDIS chose to partner with a 1,365th University instead of a University among the first 500 in the world. I believe it's due to the splitting of profits.

If you are a watch dealer, and assuming that Rolex see you very up and allow you to be its dealer, still in terms of percentage split you have no bargaining power, because everybody wants to be a dealer for Rolex.

I did came across two types of diligent ITE students. One type went on polytechnic, local universities and top white collar jobs.

Another group picked up skill-sets and because their own bosses eventually. One gentlemen whom i known had ITE's aircon and refrigeration qualification and runs his own business now. However, he highlighted to me that the young ITE grads are not hardy like his generation. For example, from the same course, the interns will not want to do a lot of jobs involving compressor installation at higher grounds or roof-top HVAC works under the sun.

At least the Leeds Beckett degree is the same as awarded by university.

Private schools offer more shady types of degree and diplomas. Most private schools set their own exam questions and leak the questions to students. In this way, the questions can be difficult and they can get top universities, including Cambridge Examination Syndicate to validate, moderate or accredit them (ie, agree that the questions are difficult and meets their standards). The degrees will have their logs but they are not awarded by the university.

The better ones, do the same as above but offers final-year in the university so that graduates get the same degree awarded as on-campus.

The best are those don't set the exam papers for their students, eg. University of London external program (difficult), ACCA (difficult), Heriott Watt MBA (easy) etc.
