Why not?

Make it available to all true Singaporeans - vaccinated, half-vaccinated and unvaccinated.

At least this will address the uncertainties and fears of the unvaccincated and the half-vaccinated who may have encountered issues after the first jab. Any issue that cannot vaccinate or so, just make it official. Am sure there would be quite a lot seniors who are not sure who to turn to, except hiding at home. And many have underlying health issues. At least, find out and its for their own good as well.

Instead of mouthing off to implement penalties/ punishments. Looking at all the big names, elites, politicians, public figures and influencers. All just hell bent on 'punishing' the unvaccinated and 'encouraging' citizens to support their line of thought. They should be ashamed of themselves for pushing (for their own agenda if any) instead of getting the nation to fight covid19 together. Look at all the infighting and division. Its a big joke.

Costs? Is it very expensive for a full health check? They used to offer it on mobile buses to senior citizens. Instead of whining about 'protecting the health system', 'we dont have enough ICU rooms'.....if reluctant to use money to expand on medical services. Then use the money on these health checks, it would help with their desired target of 80% vaccination to show off to the world.

Sure beats throwing money at people, or freebies...end up nothing gets done with the expectation to "ownself check ownself"....how many able to do so properly? We have the National Reserves then use it, arent we solving a crisis? Surely, the money can be recouped in future but for now keep for what? To show off or afraid to show?

We wouldnt be here today fighting among ourselves if the immigration controls were much stricter since the first news of high risk countries.

What exactly do you mean by "full health check"? The term is far too vague without specifying exactly what sort of checks will be done.

Yeah what does FULL HEALTH CHECK mean to you? And what is considered expensive to you?

https://www.rafflesmedicalgroup.com/services/health-screening/enhanced-packages/raffles-platinum/

Raffles Platinum (Men) S$10,449
Raffles Platinum (Ladies) S$10,561

As you can see it can range from $74.90 to $10,561.

The really expensive stuff is usuall the MRI scans and the PET scans.

The $10,561 Platinum only has MRI scans....

  • MRI Brain / Carotid & Intracranial MRA
Choice of 1 out of 2

  1. MRI Back Pain Screening
  2. MRI Neck Pain Screening
I would consider the Platinum package as a reasonable health checkup of good value to the patient (cost nothwithstanding).

As a family dr I often sent patients for these tests maybe not at one go but over 2 to 3 years.

So about $10k per person?

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1112943/singapore-elderly-share-of-resident-population/

15.2% of sg population is elderly.

https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/singapore-population/

SG population is 5.89m.

So total elderly population alone is 895,280.

$10,000 x 895,280 = $8,952,800,000 ie $8.95 billion.

Not that expensive I guess.

I am often asked by patients to send them for full body MRI scan. Plus full body PET scan.
In addition to the usual blood tests allergy tests. Hearing tests, Spiromtery lung function tests, eye exams including tonometry to screen for glaucoma, colonoscopy. Nasoscopy and gastroscooy aka OGD is not a screening test option in Canada.

There is no such thing as full body MRI. Usually one area is about $500-$700.

So ....

1) brain
2) head eg sinuses eye orbits nasopharyx auditory canals tongue
3) thyroid
4) cervical spine
5) neck vessels
6) shoulder x 2
7) chest thorax
8) mediastinum
9) cardiac
10) abdomen
11) pevlis
12) hip x 2
13) thoracic spine
14) lumbar spine
15) humerus, radius, ulna, hand x 2
16) femur x 2
17) knee x 2
18) tibia fibula x 2
19) ankle x 2
20) foot x 2

About 28 areas. $15k alone for the "full body MRI)

PET scan in sg is about $3000

All adds up. And even then still got limitations with these scans.

Lol!

Got breast check and pap smear specialist training you know?

$300,000

Based upon personal experience with two of my cycling buddies any health check without doing a cardiac calcium score is pretty worthless because both of them went for ECGs (stressed) and came back with a clean bill of health only to develop angina a year or so later and were diagnosed with 98/95% blockage of an important artery.

As for me I don't really want to know. I feel fine and I don't want to look for trouble.

Senor Jefe

Some years back, suddenly I had a period of breathlessness.
I would pant at a simple physical activity.
Went hospital for check up.
ECG, Echogram, Xrays, wear holter overnight, threadmill test, blood tests....
Drs could.not detect problem.
I went again as I knew something was really wrong.
Had a scope down my throat to my heart.
Then only they detected that a valve was faulty.
Underwent surgery.
Replaced with a metalic prosthetic valve.
Could gave died long ago.
Now, living with a metalic heart valve.

Wah they had to do transesophageal echo?

Anyway what happened to you is not consideree healrh screening. Not Full Health Check.

It is investigation for cause of symptoms.

Cost of screening is actually very very very expensive. And in many cases not cost effective.

You must be on anticoagulation. Still warfarin? Ie switched to NOACs? Eliquis? Xarelto? Pradaxa? Lixiana?

On warfarin
Still warfarin?

Monthly INRs?

The NOACs no need INR liao. But the geriatricians say warfarin better cos is easier to reverse if needed. Especially in cases of say femur fractures or intracranial bleed after falls in elderly.

Cardiologists promoting the NOACs.

But warfarin damn cheap lah. And INRs also cheap test. Just that you need to get poked.

The more you dig, the more problems you will find.
Just going for health checks is strenuous. After that, doctors will say all kinds of things to make you feel even worse than before check ups.

It is the nature of the work of drs.

Drs are there usually to tell you got problem

Seriously if a rich guy someone spent $20,000 on all kinds of tests and examinations and is told you are totally fine every damn test is normal.....the patient will say what a fucking waste of money!

The poor people also same. They spend $75 do basic screening told all normal they also say fucking waste of money!

Meanwhile if you found got cancer got allergies got early pre cancer got chronic open angle glaucoma got small kidney stone etc.....

Then they will say fuck man check then got so many problem need to spend more money fixing. Fucking con job and rip off man.

Medicine is thus the most fucked up profession of all that nobody wants to pay for.
