Foreigner asks S'pore to rename bus stops to 'make it easier' for them

That's because you are dressed in t-shirt and shorts
And you also speak broken Chinese and English

People who don't take pride in their clothing and dress-sense will be looked down everywhere in this world.

That's a bit rich coming from a sizeable segment of the sinkie population who can't even string together a simple sentence in their own National Language.

Singapore is bang in the middle of Malayan Archipelago. A basic command of Bahasa should be mandatory. After all, when in Rome, one should do as the Romans do.

can't stand you sometime ! So 'atas' but still a banana, yellow on the outside and white on the inside.
Anyway, to make it easier for the indian nationals here how about " Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta Road "

STOMPer MAO came across a letter by a Chinese national who suggested that bus stops here be renamed to 'make it easier for foreigners'. According to the writer, Singapore should label its bus stops and routes like what China is doing.

Putting aside the angst about him being a PRC etc, does he have a point? Don't take buses and even if I do I don't care what the stops are named but wouldn't it be much more confusing if the bus stop in both directions were named the same?

I beg to differ. Singapore may be right smack among countries speaking some form of Bahasa but prior to its independence, it was a British Straits Settlement and subsequently a Crown Colony for close to 150 years. Malay was only adopted as the national language after independence. Before that, the only official language that mattered was English. Even during that time, you can still get by without knowing much Malay. So it is certainly wrong to say that speaking Malay would be the natural state of affairs on the island.

Before English was the official language, Singapore & the rest of the surrounding area were all occupied by mutes from the mute clan of mute land pointing their middle fingers at each other because they have no official languages.

How do you know how I dressed? Were you the ah-kuah behind us? You should have moved up in front of us.

BTW, Uncle is on retirement on PAP pension after enjoying PAP salaries!

Times change, get used to it. If you lose control of your land, you are going to have to face huge sacrifices. This is the reality, doesn't matter how long the Malays have been in the area before the British.

If SG is still ruled by the Japanese, we will all be saying Konichiwa everyday.

Don't forget our transportation system is world class. PAP please reply to ah tiong's insult to your world class transportation system. Otherwise you will be paid in rmb instead of singdollar. Wonder how much china's transportation minister is paid.

A few more years, Ah Tiong may start suggesting that the school teach the subjects in Mandarin.
