STOMPer MAO came across a letter by a Chinese national who suggested that bus stops here be renamed to 'make it easier for foreigners'. According to the writer, Singapore should label its bus stops and routes like what China is doing.

The STOMPer said:

"A Chinese national has asked Singapore to abolish its way of naming bus stops and also to stop wasting electricity.

"Pu Liangzhong, in his March 31, 2011, letter which was published by Lianhe Zaobao, raised issues with the way the bus stops and routes in Singapore are named and claims that he had to contact his son every time he needed to get home from an outing.

"Mr Pu suggested that Singapore should label its bus stops and routes like what China is doing to make it easier for the large number of foreigners who are residing in Singapore."

According to the forum letter, Mr Pu said the bus stop names for the bus stops for both directions of the route should be the same, and not different, to make things easier.

"Commenting on the lighting in various HDB flats, Mr Pu added that they are overly bright and a waste of electricity.

"In this respect, Mr Pu continued that Singapore should take its cue from China whereby they (China) use sound/sensor bulbs which turn automatically themselves off when not in use.

"Mr Pu also added that with the world calling for energy-saving meausures, Singapore would be seen as wasting its electricity on non-essential lighting."

That's a bit rich coming from a sizeable segment of the sinkie population who can't even string together a simple sentence in their own National Language.

Singapore is bang in the middle of Malayan Archipelago. A basic command of Bahasa should be mandatory. After all, when in Rome, one should do as the Romans do.

If she cannot adapt to the lifestyle or living ask her go home.
Nothing wrong with bus stop name. Of cource name it as the road name . Bus stop too many light.
Very funny before there is a PRC complaint that Singapore HDB/building should have put more light on the buyilding like China.
I like the ideas of energy save.Maybe reduce one or 2 bulb/lamp on each bus stop. Also LTA should consider reduce lamp post on the road to save energy/cost/reduce accident of cxrashing into lamp post.
Maybe can consider to reduce by half. Every 2 lamp post take out one.

Chao cheebye ah tiongs, come to our country and expect us to change to accommodate them. Useless bums. Can't even enunciate 'r' properly! Only know how to turn tricks at Geylang! :oIo:

I beg to differ. Singapore may be right smack among countries speaking some form of Bahasa but prior to its independence, it was a British Straits Settlement and subsequently a Crown Colony for close to 150 years. Malay was only adopted as the national language after independence. Before that, the only official language that mattered was English. Even during that time, you can still get by without knowing much Malay. So it is certainly wrong to say that speaking Malay would be the natural state of affairs on the island.

That's because you are dressed in t-shirt and shorts
And you also speak broken Chinese and English

People who don't take pride in their clothing and dress-sense will be looked down everywhere in this world.
