The Florida’s Board of Medicine found Dr Lu failed to practice medicine with that level of care, skill and treatment which is recognized by a reasonably prudent similar physician as being acceptable under similar conditions and circumstances:

Dispensing a legend drug without performing an examination of the patient;
Dispensing a legend drug without making a diagnosis;
Dispensing a legend drug without establishing a treatment plan.

The Board also found that Dr Lu inappropriately dispensed Viagra and failed to keep medical records of patients:

Failing to document an examination of the patient before prescribing a legend drug;
Failing to document a diagnosis before prescribing a legend drug;
Failing to document a treatment plan before prescribing a legend drug.

I'm sure people know of top Singapore students who were rejected from NUS medical school. Yet, now they admit all sorts of people as senior doctors. And promote them fast too. Is there really so little Singaporean talent from all those other top students and Presidents scholars who entered NUS medical school?

Vice-Chairman is a high position. Who knows, this Dr Lu could be the next head of NUH, or Dean of one of our medical schools.

On the other hand, Singaporean who appears to step a little out of line, I think we know what happens to them. Not talking about near criminal acts like this case here, but about much less. Example, wasn't there some Singaporean junior doctor at NUH who was named because of some lapse during night-duty on a cardiac surgery patient? This was probably not even serious enough for Medical Council to look at. Yet I think this person has had to leave, lost specialist training position.

This case does not make sense. This chap should have been cleared or sought re-registration after serving his penalty within the original jurisdication. It begs the question if his full and thorough account was verified with the American authorities. NUH statement did not mention this and I suspect no one actually checked what happened. No professional gets a ban unless it is serious.

I can't help but think that that he might be related by marriage to someone from Singapore or is a classmate of someone here or his family has business ties with someone in a GLC.

Certainly NOT by marriage. This FT was married way back when he was working in the USA. But his family has connections with very senior and powerful officials in northeastern China where Singapore has just inked a billion-dollar business to develop an agribusiness industry in Jilin.

If we have pick a foreigner, then why pick someone with a black mark. There are millions of doctors from around the world. What is so special about this guy. What special skills does he have.

This guy is special not because of his medical expertise but his connections to powerful people who can help Singapore (or rather LHL) to realise its goals.

The Workers Party needs to raise this in Parliament.

That explains it. PRCs are famous for doing all these sort of things in their jobs. Give a storeman job to a PRC and he will be thinking of smuggling the goods out on his first day of work. 1. Was his story verified with the American body that banned him?

2. Was he recommended or sponsored by anyone?

3. Is his family related or engaged with a GLC in any business arrangement?

Good points scroobal, I agree with you, this Foreign Trash had his licence revoked by the Medical Board of Florida, revokation of a licence is more serious than a suspension or a censure. If a doctor's licence is revoked means he can no longer practice in that State. And most States (in the world, not just the USA) the State would want the doctor to reapply his registration to practise giving grounds why the doctor should be reinstated. The onus is on the doctor to give grounds and justify his re-registration and for his licence to be reinstated. I suspect this was not checked by the Singapore Medical Council, nor was this checked by NUH.

What Lee-gal? Did you know that our cabinet ministers get their relatives to set up lucrative partnerships with PRC billionaires too? They can't enter into partnerships in their own right because they are civil serpents. They have to appear to walk the talk of being upgright and righteous.

By the way the German word for "hypocrite" is "scheinheilig" ("scheinen" = to appear; "heilige" = "holy"). I prefer the German word over the English one.

I prefer to suspect the SMC and NUH were cognizant of the case but kept mum until someone leaked to the public.
