Food delivery and food deliverymen

I read about food deliverymen knocking into pedestrians, riding dangerously, stealing parcels and shoes left outside homes, passing motion at lift landings, eating/drinking from the food they were delivering etc.

Many food delivery riders are frustrated and disgruntled individuals who resort to gig work because there are few alternatives due to their lack of education or age. There are many customers who take advantage of them owing to a little spillage of food and drinks to get a discount or outright reject the delivery. This does not excuse the boorish behaviour of some of these gig workers, who give their peers a bad reputation.

It just takes a few bad apples to spoil the entire barrel, but there seems to be far too many bad apples among food deliverymen.

A Foodpanda deliveryman was caught on video shouting at staff and behaving aggressively at Mos Burger in Waterway Point on March 29.

The incident, which occurred at about 7.56pm, was witnessed by Stomper Ray, who was dining at the fast food outlet with a friend when the commotion broke out.

In the video, the deliveryman can be seen raising his voice and gesturing angrily at the counter staff.

A woman behind the counter is heard trying to calm him down, saying: "What's your number? Why your attitude like that? Everyone needs to wait."

She also told the rider that they were preparing his order, but he accused the staff of deliberately refusing to fulfil it and telling him to leave.

"You called me c****** leh," the woman added, referring to a vulgarity the rider used on her.

Ray said the deliveryman shouted for his order to be 'reassigned', even though such requests typically need to be handled on the Foodpanda platform, not by the merchant.

"Why make a big scene out of it?" asked the Stomper.

"He was screaming at the counter and scolded 'c******' at the crew.

"Then he pushed the stack of empty trays onto the floor at the counter."

Ray added that the man's phone screen clearly showed the Foodpanda rider app when zoomed in.

Foodpanda rider causes ruckus at Mos Burger

"Foodpanda should really do something about the behaviour of this rude rider," he said.

Stomp has contacted Foodpanda for comment.

Guess the race of the Foodpanda deliveryman.

Foodpanda Customer Allegedly Gets Only White Rice After Frogs Are Sold Out, Demands Refund

Foodpanda Customer Struggles To Get Refund After Side Dish Becomes Unavailable

With dine-ins suspended during P2HA, food deliveries have become an easy option, though maybe not so much for a Foodpanda customer who had problems with her order. Her attempt to cancel and get a refund was met with what appeared to be philosophy instead — that “we all have bad days”.

In the end, the lady may have received a delivery for an order of white rice, sans frog.
We summarise the story below.

Customer tries to get refund & cancel order on foodpanda

The viral post was shared by OverShare SG on 4 Aug.
Screenshots show that the restaurant had insufficient frogs to fulfill the customer’s order.

However, the restaurant allegedly said that it won’t perform a refund.

Apparently, foodpanda will only do a refund if the delivery is completed. However, for the delivery to be completed, they’ll have to send over the remaining items which are available.
This turned out, per the 1st screenshot, to be rice.
Yes, rice without a main dish to go along with.

Customer service says we all have bad days

As the protocol was explained to the customer, she appeared to get increasingly frustrated over what seemed to be a lack of flexibility.
After all, it seems illogical to deliver a single packet of plain rice.

But the order needs to be fulfilled before a refund can be made, apparently.

It’s unclear if the lady did receive the delivery in the end, but the customer service officer did leave her with the line “we all have bad days”.

’twas a bad day indeed.

Netizen points out option to cancel order

While the experience was definitely one that the customer would prefer to forget, netizens seemed amused by the “we all have bad days” line.
Someone pointed out that there’s an option to cancel the order prior to making it.

However, it’s rare that we’d enable it by default. It’s a useful option for group orders though.

Hopefully solution can be reached for customer

We’ve reached out to foodpanda for a statement and will update the article when they respond.
While we do have bad days, it does appear odd that the order sans the main dish has to be completed before there can be a refund.
Hopefully there’s an amicable solution to such issues and that the customer can have an easier time.

A price that you have to pay for being stupid lazy to cook and dabao for your family ... blame your own stupidity for being treated like a fool ... :roflmao:

The problem is when it takes too long to prepare the order.
When order via Mrs in, the kitchen should provide estimate preparation time so deliveroo don't waste time waiting.

Many, if not most food deliverymen, are low SES individuals who lack the manners and patience to be in the job that they chose out of a lack of alternatives.
