Hairstylist accused of stealing at Marina Bay Sands resort

SINGAPORE :
The first person to be accused of committing a crime at Marina Bay Sands since it opened a week ago was charged in court on Monday.
Malaysian hairstylist Tey Chin Wei, 18, allegedly stole real estate agent Tan Hwee Leng's handbag which contained S$600 cash, casino chips worth S$600 and an Apple iPhone worth S$1,200.
This reportedly happened at the integrated resort's premises on Sunday at about 2.15am.
Tey, who intends to engage a lawyer, is out on bail and will be back in court on May 17.
If convicted, he could be jailed up to three years or fined, or both. - CNA/al
