SINGAPORE — Shoppers were evacuated from Orchard Road shopping mall Wisma Atria on Monday (Oct 17) after a fire broke out in a second floor unit.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire at about 5.20pm.
“The minor fire which was confined to a small area of the unit has been extinguished. The building was evacuated as a precautionary measure. The cause of fire is being investigated,” said the SCDF on Facebook.
Storekeepers told TODAY the fire started at the shop, Masterpiece Time & Jewels.

In December last year, a 48-year-old man fell to his death inside Wisma Atria. In that month, a fire erupted at Lucky Plaza and there was a blackout at Orchard Central, caused by water seepage. Two streetside Christmas decorations along Orchard Road also caught fire earlier in the month.
