Fire breaks out at police HQ

by farik zolkepli

PETALING JAYA: A fire broke out at the corridor of the 10th floor of Menara 2 of the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman here, which destroyed an unspecified number of unimportant documents and books.

A total of 24 firemen from three fire stations rushed to the scene after receiving a call at about 7.20pm yesterday. No one was hurt in the fire, which was put out 25 minutes later.

The 10th floor houses the Criminal Investigation Department administrative office.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the cause was being investigated.

Khalid said only documents that were of not much importance which were not used for investigations were kept at the corridor of the 10th floor, which was most affected by the blaze.

“There is no cause for alarm as only old unimportant documents were lost during the fire,” he added.
