Fined for slapping maid

<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A 71-YEAR-OLD woman who slapped her daughter's maid for dipping her fingers into a pot of curry to get a piece of lady's finger to eat was fined $5,000 on Wednesday. Ang Geok Choo, a widow, admitted causing hurt to Ms Pepy Meganingsih, 24, at a condominium along Bishan Street 11 in June last year. The court heard that Ms Meganingsih was washing dishes at the kitchen sink beside the kitchen stove where Ang was cooking a pot of curry.
As soon as Ang turned away, the victim quickly reached out her hand and dipped her fingers into the pot to get the lady's finger. On seeing this, Ang reprimanded her and gave her a slap on the cheek. A second similar charge was taken into consideration. Ang could have been jailed for up to three years and/or fined up to $7,500 for the offence.
