Fine those who waste police time with frivolous reports

What a big fuss! How can this be something over which a police report is made?

When the parents of today's children were in school themselves, public hair cuts and public caning were common.

For guys, hair had to be above the collar, ear and eyebrow. There were spot checks during lessons and before examinations.

Now they issue a printed notice. In our days it used to be only a verbal warning before action was taken.

Parents, don't you want your kids to be better in terms of education, grooming and so on? If you do, why not leave it to their teachers while they are in school?

If the teacher wants to punish the kids and the parents complain, it sends the wrong message. Parents should get all the facts and consider it carefully before doing anything of the sort.

For instance, it could have been the kid's fault that the parents were not informed about what was going on in the first place.

As for filing such police reports, it's about time we introduced a fine for those who do so without a valid case. They simply waste police time otherwise.

In this case here, the parent did the correct thing. The teacher can suspend the kid, send him home, give all kinds of warnings, but she has no right to cut the kid's hair. My time, your time in school, they could do that - but that was THAT time! Then, parents were uneducated and instituitions always had the ipper hand, Today, I'd go to the extent that the parent could sue the school too! If the parent didn't do anything - the message given to the kid is that the authorities could do whatever they felt like doing and get away with it. If the parent complained to the school principal, it would end there - no one would know about it and the case would have been covered. Better go straight to the cops. Followed by the lawyers.

As for the police, it is up to them to advise the parent the next step. At least they have a record of the case. As for the kid. he's a wimp. At that age, I wouldn't have let the teacher get to my hair, I would've grabbed the scissor and stabbed her - then let her complain to the police.

If you were a school principal, you wouldn't want to tiok complaints from parents. Bad for school reputation and bad for your KPI.

It is sad that the school these days are ran by people whose duty is to ensure that they get good reputation or scores, so that they can get certain funding & a prestige to the school & their own.

Educating the child is the least importance, for most children are educated by tutors outside school hours. I am sure we have seen the huge banners outside schools trumpeting their achievements..like selling hamburgers or fried chickens, UP SIZE!!..it is a greed for money...& marketing for more..children are just digits!

I think punishments allowed by the school are those like detention class, suspension. I doubt cutting the kids' hair is one of them. If the school has instituited standards to comply with, ample notice should be given to the parents before something like this happens. This teacher's behaviour is way out of line.
