In 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, CCTV reportedly paid approximately US$150 million for the broadcasting rights. CCTV remains firm on a budget of roughly US$60–$80 million for 2026.

FIFA is asking for US$35-38 million this year. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul assured the public that Thais would "definitely" be able to watch the games, though he did not specify which platform would carry them. In 2022, Thailand pay US$33 million.
