Why does our ministers and newspaper reporters make it sound like the government is earning revenue only from taxes and GST. Look at COE which is mantaining at $70,000. An estimated 10,000 vehicles a month x $70,000 = $700,000,000/month which the government is pocketing. I'm not even going to start on the millions they rake in daily from ERP. Then we look at the ABSD, which is 7% to 10% on your second property onwards, or in the case of foreigners, 10% for all properties. For a $1 million condo, that comes up to $70k to $100k. Multiply that by at least a couple hundreds, as thousands of homes being transacted monthly. Furthermore, there is Seller stamp duty which can range from 16% in the first year to 4% in the fourth year, if you sell your property within the first four years of purchase.

Now we couple all the above mentioned taxes with 7% GST, property tax, road tax, income tax. You must be joking if the Singapore government is anywhere close to making a loss or unable to sustain the social initiatives PM LHL mentioned in his NDR.

Good points...lest we forget the amount of fines that is being collected for speeding, drink driving, littering, spitting, smoking in non designated smoking area, that include ciggies taxes that is progressively been increased, illegal parking, not displaying car park coupon, jay walking, not being able to pay your taxes on time, maid levies, foreign employee levies....haiz... The list goes on and on and through these collections alone the Govt is profiteering in billions.

In any case the typical PAPies fashion trend, they employ their cronies and pappy IBs to spread this rumour of GST Hikes to get ground sentiments before enforcing it. So it is true that GST will be targeted to 10% as proposed from the beginning. Keeping up to the ever popular Govt's belief in "divide and rule"; "Carry My Balls and I will reward"; "You die your business"; "Duplicity and Hypocrisy"; "Shed your tears, show your emotion and win their hearts" And finally, "I give to hoots whether the Born and Bred Singkies support the Govt or not, for their solution is to invite China Chinkies, Pariah Raping India Indians, NATO Pinoys, and White Thrashes through begging and promises for a better future in Sinkieland and all they need to do is vote for them to maintain their Million Dollar salaries.

So do you think they care? But as Singaporeans regardless of race, language or religion lets stay united when the going gets tough and the tough gets going...GOD BLESS SINGAPOREANS ESPECIALLY OUR ELDERS WHO BELIEVED IN THE PAPIES N INTURN GOT BETRAYED.
