the PAP is all about running a pyramid scheme at the national level. the rich form at most 10-20% of the population - not much compared to the other 80% of peasants. consumption taxes like GST will raise much more revenue for the government compared to raising income tax.

every pyramid needs a large base to support the apex.

when it comes to economics PAP has plenty of expertise, and that makes it even more appalling to see the path they have taken.

GST is a one way journey to hell. no country in the world has even reduced GST. it only ever goes up.

Ministers pay - can cut 10% across board. Will they whinge? I doubt so. Coz if they did, theyre greedy fuckass. What's 10% scacrifice of theor overbloated pay to help the community.
Defence spending - Im sure u, me & my char siew knows we have way too many arm chair generals who's only live war experience is playing simulated computer war games. Do we need so many? Are we at war? Say cut that by another 10%, and bob's your uncle. No need to hike GST.

A mere 5% cut in annual defence spending is sufficient to offset the need for 10% GST.

Can start by reducing the need for fighter jets, which has been replaced by drones. Same for certain boats such as mine sweepers which can be replaced by drones.

Maybe can even have a COE system where every year 1000 places of Reservists spots can be waived for the auction winners. Let the rich pay to get out of reservist service.
