Fandi Ahmad has ruled himself out of the Singapore national team coaching role as he's "very happy" at Malaysia Super League side Johor FA.

The 50-year-old was among the top contenders to take over Serbian Raddy Avramovic, who is set to leave his post after next month's AFF Suzuki Cup regardless of how the Lions fare.

But the Singapore legend, who scored 52 goals in 101 games for Singapore, has every intention to honour the two years remaining in his contract with the Johor outfit.

He was quoted as saying by The Straits Times, "I'll be in Johor, I've still got a contract and I'm very happy there. We are now still looking to sign some players."

"I'm still under contract, so I can't discuss other possibilities," he added.

Fandi was part of the Singapore "Dream Team" that took part in the EPL Masters Singapore Cup during the weekend alongside fellow Singapore legends Abbas Saad and current Lions XII coach V. Sundramoorthy, who is also among the favourites to take over the Lions hot seat.

After watching the Lionsagainst ATM, no thanks. Abbas got no experience at all

if its firm that Raddy is leaving, then he should not be in charge of the Suzuki cup team, FAS should have announced the new coach as well...SIGH......

So much for the foresight of PAPzis.

With so much talk about FT, Singapore Sports Council should just make Fandi an offer, buy out his contract and get him to coach Singapore. How much could his contract be worth? $1M?

At least we now have a Singapore son running the show and have a few year to build up the Singapore team, just in time for the new stadium.

Fandi, good footballer, lousy coach. Better get someone else

There are hidden cracks in the Fandi-FAS relationship. Took place during MBT's time and relates to $$$$$ or the promise to assist Fandi which did not take place later.

How about getting Arsene Wenger assisted by player-coach Steve Bould?
Stevie looks like he could still do a job in central defence for the lions. :D
