The worst thing you can do for a vigilante is to pander to him and embolden him instead of nipping the problem in the bud and not giving him a platform to conduct his social justice. When you pander to him and embolden him, his demands will only get higher. There is the saying "give them an inch and they'll take a mile".
For too long, Factup has been targeting the same people the unprofessional mods have been wanting to get rid of for the longest time. Since the goals were aligned, there were happy to be his fan, making it seem that he was right and that the users are the ones that are wrong and should be punished. You see this in posts of mods thanking him for reporting and allowing him to dig and reports posts of users from many many years back. Because end of the day, it allows the mods to give points and get rid of those they don't like faster. The classic is the "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to be afraid of post" to justify giving Factup a free reign.
Now they have created a monster they couldn't control by pandering to him all this while cause of the common goal. His demands started getting more aggressive and overwhelming. It reached a point where the mods decided to push back. Letting factup get away with his demands created angst within the community. People started threads complaining about him and him stalking people. Somehow Factup decided to take his own life cause of it.
Again, the thread mentioned in the twitter which led to the suicide was about the factup is following thread. The mods were already notified months ago that people were feeling worried bout him stalking them. The mods didn't respect the community wishes and didn't do anything to address the concerns and allowed the stalking to go on and brushed off people with "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to be afraid of". It is this callous behavior that resulted in the thread yesterday about factup's stalking which resulted in his suicide.
