Some of these young athletes have already competed at the pinnacle of competitive sport - the Olympics - while others are fairly new faces. They are part of the 90-strong Singapore contingent fielded in the Asian Youth Games (AYG). IN spotlights some of these sporting talent that you should look out for.

WHO: ISABELLE LI, 14, SINGAPORE SPORTS SCHOOL
COMPETING EVENTS: Table tennis singles (Girls), mixed doubles, mixed team ACHIEVEMENTS: Current World No. 8 (Girls' Under-15) Was women's singles champion in the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games. Also the 2008 Under-15 doubles champion and Under-18 team champion in the 14th Southeast Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships.
WHO: DARREN CHOY, 15, SINGAPORE SPORTS SCHOOL
COMPETING EVENT: Sailing - dinghy; boys ACHIEVEMENTS: Topped the rankings in a five-day selection trial for Byte CII sailors to be part of the Singapore contingent in AYG. Was part of the team that won the silver medal in 2007 SEA Games in Optimist Team Racing.
WHO: QUAH TING WEN, 16, RAFFLES INSTITUTION (JUNIOR COLLEGE)
COMPETING EVENTS: 50m, 100m, 200m freestyle, and 200m individual medley (IM) ACHIEVEMENTS: Won a gold medal in the 400m IM and two silver medals in the 100m and 200m freestyle at the 2007 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. Broke three national records - 50m freestyle (25.80 seconds), 100m freestyle (55.80 seconds) and 200m freestyle (2:01.18) - earlier in March this year at 40th National Age Group Swimming Championships. Also competed in the Beijing Summer Olympic Games 2008 in the 100m freestyle and 400m IM.
WHO: RUSSEL LOW, 16, PRESBYTERIAN HIGH SCHOOL
COMPETING EVENT: Basketball (3-on-3) ACHIEVEMENTS: Part of the school team that won the North Zone School B Division Championship in 2009. Though his team lost in the 2007 National Schools C Division Championship, he was named Most Valuable Player in the final between Catholic High and Presbyterian High. Also chosen to be one of the two athletes featured on 100PLUS AYG banners that will around the island throughout the AYG.
WHO: NEW HUI FEN, 17, SINGAPORE SPORTS SCHOOL
COMPETING EVENT: Bowling ACHIEVEMENTS: Came in first in singles, doubles, team, all-events and masters in the National Schools Bowling B Girls Championship in 2008. Won the Malaysian Open Girls' Masters event at the Sunway Mega Lanes in Kuala Lumpur March this year. She beat her closest competitor by 21 pinfalls with a total of 2,202 over 10 games.
WHO: JODIE TAN, 17, REPUBLIC POLYTECHNIC
COMPETING EVENT: 10m air rifle ACHIEVEMENTS: Placed sixth out of 90 shooters at the International Junior competition in Germany in April, achieving a score of 395 out of a possible 400 in the qualification shoot.
