A SINGAPOREAN lawyer who gave up her career to pursue a veterinary degree in Australia was killed in a car crash in Perth last Friday, just short of her graduation.

Ms Celina Chua, 30, would have been able to fulfil her lifelong dream of becoming a vet in just five weeks, after completing her second degree in veterinary medicine at Murdoch University.

But her life was cut short when the car she was driving careened off a three-lane highway and crashed headlong into an oncoming vehicle.

Western Australian police said she was behind the wheel when she lost control of her Hyundai Excel. She was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. Her mother and a younger sister were also injured in the accident and were admitted to the Royal Perth Hospital. Another younger sister, who was also in the car, sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the other car suffered punctured lungs, multiple fractures and cuts, and was also taken to hospital. Police are still investigating the accident.

Media reports on the accident said Ms Chua's family members were in Perth for a short visit when it happened.

I am not talking about the hyundai excel, but in the past alot of singaporeans get into accidents because they rented commodores or australian camrys.. which are all RWD. Alot of them lost control when overtaking because they accelerate and turn. this causes the rear tyres to skid. At >100kmh, the consequences are usually tragic.

By the way. all of you insensitive fuckers who can still make fun of the deceased girl, i say your parents must be very proud of you :oIo:

roque..u quote the wrong person...

I find it interesting that the local media would report these sort of things. Are they trying to scare sinkies from migrating to australia? Do australian media report everyone of its citizens who die in an overseas traffic accident?

Let's talk about death.

Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan said by doing so, it would make the subject less of a taboo for both the dying and the living.

He said in Singapore alone, 55 per cent of people died in hospitals and only 28 per cent, at home.

Most would rather die at home, said the Minister at the official opening of the Children Hospice International 18th World Congress this morning.

Mr Khaw said the Health Ministry will look into the subject in greater detail and identify the obstacles and gaps.

Speaking to reporters later, Mr Khaw said these include costs and the reluctance of doctors to certify death at a home.

"If need be, we shall change the rules and processes that currently hinder dying at home," he said.

The three-day congress for doctors, nurses and caregivers in palliative and hospice care ends on Sunday.

The Hell Minister did it again! On the dot as Hell's Gate closed last night. Go to Rwanda and watch little girls being raped for real entertainment. Send your useless old folks to die in Johor. Now he's looking into how to get rid of you from hospital and not to hinder you dying at home. Euthanasia by non-hinderance?

From what i heard, rear wheel drive is better control than front wheel drive, therefore i do not believe that they lost control with that.

also 100 km/h is very slow, i only feel lost of control above 180 km/h in germany. it is very easy to control a car at 100 km/h, in fact i feel like running is faster than 100 km/h so slow.

KNN why do they have to mention it's a Hyundai?? You don't see news mentioning if it's a Toyota or Mistubishi Lancer right!!? It's downright stereotyping is what it is!! :oIo:
