Mentor Lee Kuan Yew intended to cut short his overseas trip.
Dr Goh's state funeral is now fixed on May 23, 10 day after he passed away on Friday May 14.
Heard feedbacks on the ground. Questions raised by many included which is more inportant to LKY :
1. return immediately to pay respect to a very close comrade and someone who'd stood by him and true supporter during the toughest period of times ? Or;
2. Continue with his self-gorifying overseas trip which most likely do not have any impact to Singapore.
Unfortunately, LKY chose the latter and asked to 'arrange' the funeral till his return, otherwise he will only speak during parliament sittings. Was the funeral scheduled on May 23 to allow LKY to shed crocodile tears and earn brownie points ? That is another week of waiting, lying there, for Dr Goh !!
What is so important that a business (assuming it if for Singapore) that it cannot be cancelled or sent one of his ministers as replacement? The host will understand and appreciate his respect for friends.
Did he cut short his visit when his wife had a stroke while in UK ?
This just showed how much he really valued any other people who'd stood by him during the most difficult times.
Rear Admirer Lui should had said ...pity for Dr Goh for wasted contribution. He will get some consolation votes for it.
