Empty words from the unions and SMRT for victims

In a statement, SMRT Trains' managing director Lee Ling Wee apologised to those affected by the accident and said the company's first priority was to the victims' families.

What does SMRT mean by 'first priority' to the victim's families?

Will SMRT handle the funeral arrangements? Give victims' families an initial amount to tide the family through until the final compensation amount is finalized?

Or SMRT is just going to send them boxes of tissue paper?

Labour chief Chan Chun Sing, in a Facebook post on Tuesday afternoon, said he was "extremely saddened" by the tragic accident. Mr Chan added that the National Transport Workers’ Union will do what is necessary to support the affected workers during this diffcult time.

What does this labour chief means by "what is necessary to support the affected workers"?

Send punk sai chua? Why cannot spell out specifics? Because there is none?
NTUC can send vouchers to family to buy boxes of tissues.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a statement that it was assisting with investigations and "will extend our assistance to their next-of-kin where necessary".

More empty words ..."extend our assistance to the next-of-kin WHERE NECESSARY"

Who determines 'where necessary'?
Tanjong Pagar GRC MP Melvin Yong wrote in a Facebook post: "On behalf of the National Transport Workers' Union, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of the two workers who were killed in the fatal train accident this morning along the East-West Line."
Mr Yong, who is also executive secretary of the union, said he was at Pasir Ris station with union leaders to render support to the affected families and workers.
"When we first got news of the accident, the union mobilised our union leaders - the most important thing is to reach out to the families of the affected workers," Mr Yong told reporters outside the station.

What kind of assistance was rendered? Give out packets of tissue? What did the union leaders do?

Everyone says they will support the victims' families but sinkees don't know what kind of help is given. Just PAP BS!

Brother Chun Sing would do all he can to support the family of the dead workers.

SMRT could give the immediate families free MRT rides for the next two years, while NTUC would supply them with a few food hampers to tide them over this period.

And what is "do all he can"? Support the family for 20 years?

SMRT could give the immediate families free MRT rides for the next two years, while NTUC would supply them with a few food hampers to tide them over this period.

"Could" ...means that the families must be means-tested?
"a few food hampers" ....means two or three? Each hamper has a max value of $20.

no matter how shallow and cheapskate and demeaning this is,it would still be hundred times better than what smrt would offer the victims in real life lol.

naming a couple of trains after them would complete the care package.

He prioritise 150 days milestone and talks about the 2 dead as an afterthought.

Yesterday, Downtown Line (DTL) crossed an important milestone: 150 days without any major service disruption. It achieved the 100-day milestone on 31 Jan, together with Circle Line (CCL). Unfortunately, CCL experienced a disruption and the clock restarted for its next 100-day target. This is the challenge of running a disruption-free rail service, not just here in Singapore, but also in other cities like Hong Kong or Taipei or London. Hence crossing each 100-day, 150-day and 200-day milestone is a timely opportunity to encourage them on towards the next milestone.

Sadly, news came that two SMRT colleagues were killed by a moving train while attending to a problem near Pasir Ris MRT station. We are gathering the details to understand how the accident happened and how the safety procedures could be further strengthened. Meanwhile, our hearts are with the families and will do our best to support and assist them.

At DTL Depot, I took the opportunity to remind all that amidst all the maintenance work to keep our trains running smoothly, they should also take care and adhere to safety regulations at all times. We were there to celebrate DTL’s 150-day milestone but our hearts were heavy.

He was even thinking about them but rather blaming them for ruining his grand moment. Khaw implied that the two deceased did not adhere to safety regulations.

Just reminded us of how MINDEF blame the asthmatic soldier who died in a training accident from allergic reaction to excessive smoke grenade for his own death.

Isn't that so PAP?
