SINGAPORE - A netizen has been arrested for posting an alarming hoax message on an online forum.

In the posting, the 24-year-old male claimed that an F-16 jet had crashed at the Ubi/Eunos Link area, injuring many.

A fellow netizen alerted police to the posting.

The police were able to trace the source of the message and arrested the suspect at his home in Bedok Reservoir. They also seized a desktop computer.

Investigations are still ongoing.

If found guilty, the suspect faces up to three years in jail, a fine, or both.
