Gas explosion at Little India

SINGAPORE - 11 people were hurt when a shophouse in Little India went up in flames in a gas explosion today.

At about 5.45pm, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to a fire at 29 Lembu Road.

The explosion took place in the kitchen of a restaurant and its contents were badly burnt.

The fire, which was caught on camera by a bystander (above), was put out in 10 minutes after the SCDF arrived at the scene.

The casualties are receiving treatment for burns at Singapore General Hospital.

Investigations of the cause of the fire are ongoing.
