A LORRY driver was arrested on Wednesday for offering a bribe to a Traffic Police officer, after he was stopped for driving while talking on his mobile phone.
Corporal Ng Ching Heng was on patrol along Thomson Road when he spotted the driver committing the offence.
He signalled to the man to stop and explained that he would be booked.
The 68-year-old driver first pleaded with the officer to let him off for the driving offence but he later took out a $100 bill and offered it to the officer.
Cpl Ng rejected the bribe immediately and arrested the man, who is now being investigated by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau.
Traffic Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner Cheang Keng Keong, commended Cpl Ng for 'displaying impeccable intergrity'.
