I strongly support Malaysia and Dr M on this issue. I don't see how cheap water price they are getting translate into saving for me. it only serves to enrich the coffers of the gov.
But clearly its 2 different issues here.
One, the selling price were already established in the contract long ago.
What had been agreed in a contract cannot be changed at will. Just like you bought a property cheaply many years ago, can the seller now ask you to pay more because the price had gone up at today's value?
After all, Malaysia is still getting millions of ringgit every year selling us their free rain water fell from the sky and without even lifting a finger!
After selling the water to Singapore, how much we sell is none of his business!
He can jolly well don't buy back the processed water if he don't like the price, no one point a gun at him!
Whenever this mad hatter come up with such things, it usually means something serious is brewing at home.
The Ringgit is sliding down into record low level in 15 years, the kitty is dry and the PM is due for election soon (with some expecting some very fierce internal fighting).
And worse, there were numerous shooting cases going on right now, killing some very prominent people.
All this are BIG problems so some distractions are need badly.
As usual, Singapore is often selected as the punching bag.
