What they are doing now is just another wayang to appease the public.
We have arrived at this pathetic stage because there are simply not enough oppositions in parliament to stop the PAP from changing and amending policies at their whims and fancy. They have amended the constitiutions more than 300 times with less then 200 years history while US amended theirs less than 100 times in more than 300 years.
Remember the policy of minister's pay was debated and bulldozed through in parliament without any opposition.
In order to restore this unfavorable and unjustifiable situation to its default, we must have two third opposition in the parliament.
This salary review is just another wayang skillfully crafted to side track the people into thinking that they have changed.

The event or announcement etc is not a bad thing in itself. The "spin" is only for the purpose rendering it much more positive than what it actually is.

In this salary review, what the govt did is nothing to do with 'spinning". They had over the years been increasing rather substantially their salaries. And now they are offering a discount of their salaries with the end result that they are making sacrifices as if out there in the marketplace they would have been paid much more. We all know that is totally untrue. So that's lying. Simple as that. You see for a department store to mark up their prices and then give a discount during sales is an acceptable practice because that's business. But for a govt to do that, what else can it be but to be called cheating.

Yes, Singaporeans must see through PAP's "market subsidy" approach. It shd be based on cost which is objective. If the price is higher than cost, it's profit..if it is lower, it's subsidy.

Good analogy. And what's worse is that they sell the chicken rice at $2 saying it's the best chicken rice and so u must pay more for it than other stalls. But when u eat it, u find that it's not even as good as another stall selling it at $1.20.
