You know countries like khazastan or ubesekstan and whatever type of stan they have with the exception of pakistan.

I realised that very few ppl in these regions talk about these countries. They all used to be under the Ussr so i suppose they all were forced to speak russian but i wonder how is it like in these countries.

Any of you ever been to one of these stan countries?

What i know about them is they are not really that rich probably still 3rd world. Most of them are muslim. They are mostly turkic and it's surprising that turkish ppl can range from those that look ang moh to those that look chinese. They look like a mixture of chinese and ang moh. That's all i know

Anyone have experiences to share living in one of these countries.

No.

But I knew a boy named Stanley in my seconday school. His daddy was a lawyer. Fucking snob of a classmate, called the rest of the class peasants. Didn't fucking mix with anyone else. Wouldn't play football because he wanted his shoes to remain clean. Wasn't a muslim either.

Anyway, what izzit about these Stan countries you're so curiious about?

Cheers!

In my pri. sch. days, we wore white canvass school shoes that had to be liquid chalked white at home. In school if it got dirtied, we used solid chalk sticks to make up and cover over the stains. When we played football, we played barefooted. That trained an extra strength on the feet by the time of sec. sch. when we got real football boots. Imagine you could drive a football across half the field barefooted, then you got a pair of boots. ;)

No, I don't know much. Most of them are landlocked, non-arable and resource-scarce countries that nobody was interested in. Some of them do have some oil though and became notable after the invention of motorized mechanics and discovery of the use of oil as an energy source. USSR was at the right place at the right time to grab them.

It's so strange that we probably know more about say Bulgaria than one of these countries ending in stan.

It means -land, like England, Scotland, Holland, Finland etc. India was a name given by the British after colonization. It was originally Hindustan.

Uzbekistan gals flooded the sex market several years ago. Most were based at Lion City hotel. I got stucked with 2 of them - both friends. One was pure Korean. The other mixed Russian and Korean.

"Stan" in several Middle and Near Eastern languages means "land," so "Afghanistan" simply means "Land of the Afghans," "Uzbekistan" translates as "Land of the Uzbeks," and so on. "Pakistan" is a bit fancier, meaning "Land of the Pure." According to the Slate article, there are seven countries ending in "istan" or "stan": Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

All I knew was their girls look exotic and awesome. I'm planning a holiday there next year!

The "stan" are actually descendants of the monggol army. The Turks were allies to the monggols, while the Tatars, they were destroyed.
I have not been to these stans, but I reckon they are more or less united in their language, which include the ugyuir in china.

Yeah paki means land of the pure but there's more to it. It's a country that includes the territories and ethnic groups of those in pakistan

http://www.sportscomet.com/Cricket/46160.htm

The name "Pakistan" means "Land of the Pure" in Sindhi, Urdu and Persian. It was coined in 1934 by Choudhary Rahmat Ali, who published it in the pamphlet Now or Never. The name was coined from the names of five territories that were proposed as constituents of a separate country for the Muslims in British India, these territories were previously considered as Afghan or Persian domains from a cultural as well as an ethnic point of view; the territories consisted of P-Punjab, A-Afghania, K-Kashmir, S-Sindh, and Tan/Stan-Balochistan/Tokharist... The name also implies that the people of this land are 'pure'. Officially, the nation was founded as the Dominion of Pakistan in 1947, and was renamed as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 1956.
