The authorities have a clear protocol when it comes certain people of importance. I remember talking to a US official who told me that when the US President travels, the secret service would have mapped out the nearest hospital, the fastest route, the blood type availability, the quality of the doctors. etc. If not medical staff, blood etc on Air Force One. Its just too expensive to replace the head honcho of a country.

I can guarantee you if an ambulance was heading to attend a case in the vicinity of Sri Temasek and a call came from the Istana or Oxley, that ambulance would be diverted and second one sent to attack the original case.

I think clearly the issue here is not about Janil as there is no reason to indicate that he made a blunder or that he tried to "hao lian". Janil was capable of tending to HSK and he did the right thing by responding quickly.

Bro, anything with brain (neurology) TTSH is no.1. Ambulance have got the right equipment. I think the 3 did all that they could possibly do. Heli transport is an option.

Heli medical evacuation has been going on for years. Mostly handle cases from Mindef camps, sailors in the South China Sea etc. Sembawang Airbase and RSAF handle all Heli medical emergencies. The hospitals on notification will assemble a team including medical doctor, nurses etc who will be ready at the helipad when the copter arrives. Assessment done at hellpad before transferring to Emergency Dept. Sembawang RSAF personal also trained. There are protocols for heli from Istana to SGH helipad but it is meant in the event the roads are blocks due to unforeseen circumstances.

I usually believe in experience staff nurses more than young doctor because of their vast exposure. Well I believe no harm is done as the paramedic arrived real fast.

Anyway, I find the constant use of the term 'resuscitate' in the many reports baffling. I don't think a stroke can stop breathing if it does not cause a heart attack. So the patient should still be breathing. However, because of the lost of muscular control, the neck would likely be tilted such the airway is blocked and the patient will be gasping for air. In such a case, do we call it resuscitation if we tilt back the head or sideway to open the airway? The term resuscitation gave me the impression that breathing has stopped I.e. Lungs collapsed

You tell me...how do you identify a person is having a stroke, when that person collapsed in from of you?...it can be so many things right? even a medical doctor cannot tell straightaway.....this proof that the MIW themselves don't have emergency medical equipment at hand....

When a person collapse, first to move that person slowly to a comfortable position....check the breathing, & if you know how to check for heartbeat rate, take reading..if there's thermometer...take temperature, if an elderly person.....a BP set to take BP......& keep the person ventilated & a thin blanket to keep out the cold & not to over cover and get over heated...I bet you...they ALL PANIC!!

A lay person....cannot stop the rise of BP etc....it is best wait for medical help arrive with all the necessary medical equipment & know how.....surely where they are, should have a medical team....in the building?
