SINGAPORE - A badly-decomposed body was found this morning at a construction site on Sentosa.
Chinese newspaper Shin Min Daily News reported that the male body had been placed inside a luggage bag and was highly-decomposed. It is believed to have been dumped at sea.
The body was discovered by some construction workers at 8.14am. They had been working on a new building site when the luggage case floated in on the sea beside the site.
They opened the luggage bag to discover the body.
Highly-decomposed
According to Shin Min Daily News, the body was badly-decomposed and is believed to have been dead for two to three days.
The body was bloated and the features were not discernible. However, initial investigations revealed that it was a man's body.
No identification card
The body was without an identification card. So far, the police have not been able to identify the deceased.
The Chinese newspaper also reported that it was impossible to ascertain where the body appeared from, as the place where it was found was surrounded by various buildings.
By-standers said that the deceased was probably dumped into the sea after he died. Others said that the body probably floated to the surface because it had became lighter after decomposing for a few days.
A police spokesperson told the Chinese newspaper that the case is still under investigation.
