What are plans for cyclists on Changi Coast Road?

I READ with concern the road expansion plans outlined in the article, "Major roadworks to cater to Changi's T5" (May 25).

Has due consideration been given to the safety of vulnerable users of Changi Coast Road?

The road is used heavily by recreational cyclists all days of the week. On weekends especially, one will see many groups of cyclists at all hours of the day, even before the break of dawn.

At the moment, the massive volume of heavy vehicular traffic bound for Terminal 5 uses Tanah Merah Coast Road to enter the construction site.
With the removal of Changi Coast Road, this means recreational cyclists will be diverted to Tanah Merah Coast Road, creating a highly dangerous mix of heavy vehicular traffic and cyclists.

The expansion of Xilin Avenue also creates further danger for cyclists in the Tampines/Simei area when accessing/exiting the Changi East area.

With so many additional lanes of vehicular traffic planned, and the inevitable increase in vehicle speeds, do the authorities have plans to provide segregated on-road bicycle lanes to ensure the safety of the cyclists?

What is the replacement plan for the park connector that currently runs parallel to Changi Coast Road?

NAHBAY CHIIBAI cyclist go buy your own stationary exercise bike and cycle exclusively at home :oIo:

Why not cycle on the pavement? I did it before, from East Coast Park to Changi Beach Park and back again.

Only the silly full kit wankers, Tour De France wannabes (especially ang mohs) cycle on the main road there.

Just put a lane next to new runway! Can race with the jumbos and airbus!

Yes, get one that comes with a LCD display that can bluetooth connect to your devices, play "erotic" movies, watch & ride at the same time; make it much more exciting, no bicycle seat....:D

I have no issues with that.

Some cyclists just deserved to be decimated.

Cyclist should go find his bicycle tyre air pump, shove it up his asshole and ride on it

That is the longest bike path in singapore they shouldnt take it away.if singapore wants to stand a chance of producing talents for the tour de france,10km of wilderness away from the nearest 711 or kopitiam.only the champions of gods ride there.

Riverbanks can be upgraded into cycle and jogging lanes. Away from heavy traffic and smog.safer also.

The public road belongs to everyone ..

The day I become Singapore Prime minister I will ban the sell of bicycle in Singapore

Bikers can go ride bikes in JB to Batu Pahat all the way to Kota Bahru
