He was driving to Woodlands when he noticed an unusual sight on the road.

In the lane on his left was a white car, parked but with its hazard lights on. And on the ground in front of the vehicle was a cyclist in a white T-shirt. His mangled bicycle lay about a metre away.

The motorist, who declined to be named, slowed down as he drove past the scene at Jurong East Central towards Bukit Batok Avenue 1 at about 11pm on Thursday.

His car's videocam recorded the scene as he passed by but he didn't stop his vehicle for fear of causing a build-up of traffic.

He later uploaded footage of the incident to Stomp.

He told the citizen journalism website: "There were many onlookers there, but the ambulance had not arrived at that time."

He noted that the accident happened just an hour before the start of the Hungry Ghost Festival.

"I am not superstitious, but it seemed a little unusual to me!" he said.

The collision proved to be a deadly one.

When contacted, a police spokesman said they are investigating the fatal road accident between a car and a bicycle.

On Friday at about 1am, he was pronounced dead.

The car driver, a 51-year-old man, was arrested
