Imagine spending $200 on an arcade game and winning the grand prize, only to discover the prize was a fake. That's what STOMPer Sabrina experienced at Prize Station's East Coast outlet.
STOMPer Sabrina relates the incident:
"I was at East Coast's Prize Station yesterday where there was an arcade machine with iPhone 4s as prizes.
"After spending close to $200, we finally got a dummy phone down.
"We proceeded to the counter to retrieve our prize and were presented with an iPhone without an on/off button, so we went to check with the staff about it.
"They claimed that what we received was the prize we had caught, a 'Hong Kong' phone, yet the machine had stated that the prizes were original iPhone 4s.
"The staff claimed that the phone we had caught was not the real one.
"While we were speaking to them, the China female staff member told a male staff member to quickly turn off all the machines in Chinese. After that, they asked all the other customers to leave the store.
"The manager came out and offered to buy the phone back from my boyfriend and I for $80 .
"We made a police report, and will be making a report with CASE as well.
"They did not have a disclaimer on the machine to say that some of the phones were not genuine.
"This is like going to a Louis Vuitton store and getting a fake bag, because it had not been stated that all the bags would be original."
