Could someone explain why these Nationalities are 'prefered'

I have always wanted to ask, but I do not dare to post in MSM forums because I do not want to be branded as a racist. Since I am here, I am going to ask openly:

(1) Why do our PAP Government / local companies seem to prefer Indian nationals, PRC Nationals and Pinoy Nationals? Is it due to political reasons or is it due to cultural context. The choice to get PRC and Indians are rumoured to be LKY's idea.

(2) What can't we attract better talents from the Scandinavian countries or even Taiwan/Hong Kong?

One of the main reasons is the FTAs signed with these 3rd world countries.

Forget about Scandinavian or some European country. They have much better social and pay there you cannot entice enough of them to come over.

As for Taiwan/Hong Kong, have you been there? Their lifestyle and pay are actually the same or better then in Singapore. So you won't get much people that are willing to come over to Singapore either.

Indians, PRCs, Pinoys are a different story, it is more advantageous of them to make the trip as the pay difference is significant enough for them to do so. Plus, its always a stepping stone if they have higher ambition to move to another country later. There are many examples of them migrating to US/Australia/Britain after a couple of years in Singapore. Like MIWs used to say, "win-win" for both. But maybe not for Singaporean in general.

In 10-20 years time, when CHina/India becomes "affluent", they would most likely start targeting the African continent. Just you see what happens then.

Just walk into any of the healtchcare group's( formerly known as government hospitals) hospitals, you can see the large number of Pinoys, and PRC's there & some from Myanmar also, some years back fairprice supermarkets were attempting to employ PRC's cashiers in large numbers, and they would have , not fo , the 'training fees' fallout.

No need credible references....the eyes will tell you....the proof is in the pudding!!!

Go and do a headcount of the number of Indian Ah Nehs working in IBM office at Changi South, the IT companies around the area or you can go to Suntec City during lunch time and count for yourselves the number of Ah Nehs working there..

After completing your task of counting the number of Ah Nehs, then pls do return back to this forum and tell us the final result of your findings..

IMHO, becoz Malays/Muslims are not preferred here under this WHITE govt.
U can get by tens of millions surrounding this dot.

And SGP is no longer a preferred place to live permanently; except in transit for play n work.
From my conversations with Malaysians, Banglas, Indians,Chinas, they shunned PRs if given
to them, let alone sillyzenships.

In addition to the other reasons highlighted by other bros, which I agree 100%, I suggest it has to do with culture too.

Indians, PRCs and Pinoys are less likely to give our MIW political problems compared to Europeans. The former group is easier to control, more submissive, more respectful to authority etc.

This proved you have not mingled with the 'colored observation' at the places mentioned, as I have & many others on a daily basis...so the proof is not in the pudding but in the tasting also. Have worked with these 'colored observation', have seen my fellow workers being replaced by these.

I used to have dealings with the rich PRCs and Indon-Chinese. Over in their homeland, the culture of using money to solve problems are blatant, bribery is common.

The common folks in their homeland, are constantly suppressed and they developed a culture of using loud voices to prove they are not to be bullied. Remember the China woman who created a ruckus when she attempt to cheat fares at the MRT station.

These backward cultures are seeping slowly into our society. To be fair to the pinoys, at least they try to appear humble and polite.

Lastly, let's not get started with the Foreign Indians.

I do not 100% agree with you that PRCs are easier to control. Those country folks are, but not the rich and affluent ones. They tried to get seats and harness influence in the local clan associations and Chinese Chamber of Commence.
