Chuan Jin is such a poor communicator - disastrous for govt to keep using him

I expect a Grade A government to guide people back to the right questions but they are only the top student in a class of failures. When you do not know what, how and when to communicate effectively you have no hope of getting anywhere near a Grade A performing government. Recently Obama did a first class job communicating his carbon reduction program and that is from a guy with his hands and legs tied. Witness how Thomas Friedman summarized that in his NYT op-ed.

Tan Chuan Jin reproduced this on his Facebook page which I caught last night. It is not wrong but quite unhelpful. Again and again reminding me what poor communicators our ministers are: http://blogging4myself.blogspot.sg/2014/06/tan-chuan-jin-explains-cpf-returns.html

The chart sums it up perfectly. I can't find anything wrong with it at all. Everything is clearly explained including how the interest rate is derived.

The blogger is too naive! If i am trying to sell you a car, you expect me to point out the flaws of the design or the "catch" in the financing scheme? Is the best salesman the one who explains best, or the one who sells the most cars?

First of all, don't flatter the farker by calling him a general. He is only a politician. Secondly, he is not much of a politician.

Here's his story. Is this the story of a true soldier where his biggest accomplishment is organizing NDP? :

Tan joined the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in 1987. He went on to hold the positions of Commander of the 7th Singapore Infantry Brigade, Commander of the Army's 3rd Division, Assistant Chief of General Staff (Plans) and Chief of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), and rose to the rank of Brigadier-General.

Following the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, Tan served as the commander of the SAF's Humanitarian Assistance Task Force in Meulaboh, Indonesia.

In 2009, Tan served as the Chairman of the Executive Committee for Singapore's National Day Parade.

Tan left the SAF on 25 March 2011 in order to stand for Parliament.

Compare his story to that of a military sergeant, a real soldier, someone I will salute:

Sergeant First Class Paul R. Smith distinguished himself by acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of duty in action with an armed enemy near Baghdad International Airport, Baghdad, Iraq on 4 April 2003. On that day, Sergeant First Class Smith was engaged in the construction of a prisoner of war holding area when his Task Force was violently attacked by a company-sized enemy force. Realizing the vulnerability of over 100 fellow soldiers, Sergeant First Class Smith quickly organized a hasty defense consisting of two platoons of soldiers, one Bradley Fighting Vehicle and three armored personnel carriers. As the fight developed, Sergeant First Class Smith braved hostile enemy fire to personally engage the enemy with hand grenades and anti-tank weapons, and organized the evacuation of three wounded soldiers from an armored personnel carrier struck by a rocket propelled grenade and a 60mm mortar round. Fearing the enemy would overrun their defenses, Sergeant First Class Smith moved under withering enemy fire to man a .50 caliber machine gun mounted on a damaged armored personnel carrier. In total disregard for his own life, he maintained his exposed position in order to engage the attacking enemy force. During this action, he was mortally wounded. His courageous actions helped defeat the enemy attack, and resulted in as many as 50 enemy soldiers killed, while allowing the safe withdrawal of numerous wounded soldiers. Sergeant First Class Smith's extraordinary heroism and uncommon valor are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Third Infantry Division "Rock of the Marne," and the United States Army.

Judging from your unrelenting support of the PAP in recent months, it is likely that you will accept LHL's invite to run for the PAP. GCT will gracefully leave the scene for the new holy ghost.

All scholar soldiers should be given a 3 year tour of duty in Afghanistan or the latest war zone. Doubt the PAP government will ever do that because these scholars are precious (pau pei).

Fake General

This is a real Brigadier

http://www.riley.army.mil/AboutUs/L...le/468795/brigadier-uk-christopher-ghika.aspx

Brigadier Christopher Ghika was born in London and, as the son of a military father, spent his early life in a variety of places in southern England.

He was commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1993 and joined 1st Battalion Irish Guards, a single battalion infantry regiment in the Guards Division. As a platoon commander, company operations officer and regimental signals officer, Brigadier Ghika was stationed in London and on two separate tours conducted anti terrorist operations in Northern Ireland. He attended the Army Junior Division of the Staff College in 1997. Following this course, the Battalion were posted to Germany and it was from there that he deployed as Adjutant to take part in the NATO entry into Kosovo in 1999.

Following his tour as Adjutant, Brigadier Ghika deployed for six months as a UN Military Observer to Sierra Leone during the civil war in 2000. On completion of the tour, he served for eighteen months as an infantry company commander in England before being selected for the Joint Services Staff College course from 2001-2003. On completion of the course, he spent two years in the Ministry of Defence as the desk officer responsible for the size of the Army before returning to Germany to command an armoured infantry company which included a tour in Baghdad and Basra in 2007.

At the end of this tour, Brigadier Ghika returned to the UK to become Military Assistant to the Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff in the Ministry of Defence from 2008-2010. Battalion command followed this post, which included a tour in Helmand Province, Afghanistan from 2010-2011. He spent fifteen months working on Army personnel policy in 2012-13 before being selected to be Deputy Commanding General - Readiness -- DCGR (US) 1ID

Kee Chiu very quiet recently. Is he ill ? Or marginalised?

Arseloon and LKY taking notes of what I been writting.

KeeChiu been nodding nodding his head too much and smiling smiling too much for the comfort of LKY.

You might not see KeeChiu around for a long long time.
Especially as they found very very sharp knife with KeeChiu.
KeeChiu explanation he was practising to be a teppanyaki chef was not believed.

No one near the LEEs dare to smile smile too much or nod nod the head too much.
They rather wait for that smear of shit on sole of shoe LKY to die, or to be dragged out of bed to be dangled under lamp posts

Arseloon getting more and more arsey not certain where his head is and where his arsehole is getting more and more worried no one listening to him and more intent on seeing LKY mouth opening wider and eyes more gong gong
Maybe Arseloon will declare himself GRAND FIELD MARSHALLISSIMO SOON, VERY VERY SOON, VERY VERY VERY SOON

Cannot blame him as he do not want more than his current arsehole and not more arseholes hooted into him.

Problem with people like Chuan Jin is that they have taken on something much more than they can chew - so they try to fumble their way around - and well aware that their staff are sniggering behind his back. They are too used to barking (out orders) and enjoying hearing their own voices. To prove his mettle, why not invite Roy for a chat and find out exactly what is causing the latter on the angst?
