You people, Chinese, why oh why? There's no such thing as Lee Kuan Yew or Li Guangyao being Chinese names. These are romanized names. The Chinese name is 李光耀。Written that way regardless of how it's pronounced according to dialects or accents. That's Chinese name. Claiming version of romanization as preservation dialectal Chinese peculiarity and identity is really silly and stupid. The Chinese language system has always been same characters, how you pronounce it according to dialectal or regional accent differences, nevermind, the characters remain the same. That has united Chineseness for more than 4,000 years.
For Singaporean Chinese surnamed 李,are you so proud that's spelt Lee or are you so ashamed that's Li? It doesn't matter, geddit? As long as long you can write 李。
