A livestreamer in China reportedly gained a massive online following by using heavy beauty filters that made her appear significantly younger during broadcasts. Viewers allegedly sent gifts, donations, and money while believing they were watching someone completely different — until the filter suddenly malfunctioned live on stream.

The clip quickly spread across social media, with many viewers saying they were stunned after seeing the unfiltered version during the broadcast. The incident soon sparked a wider online debate about fake online personas, extreme beauty filters, and how far some influencers go with digital edits to gain attention, followers, and profit.

Reports say she lost around 150,000 followers within hours after the clip started circulating.

Everything about China is fake and gay. The products they sell, the stories they tell.

Nobody thought the livestream would change everything in a second.

Fans showed up for months to watch a young woman wink, smile and thank fans for expensive gifts on line. Her videos looked professional. Lighting is good. Face of a god.

They thought they knew exactly who they were looking at.

Then something went wrong. The beauty filter… suddenly disappeared mid-stream…and the woman on camera was not who they thought she was.

The chat blew up almost immediately. Clips were everywhere, within hours. Some laughed. Others felt uneasy at how quickly online attention turned cruel.

It had lost more than 140,000 followers by the end of the day.

Sometimes the internet falls for the illusion before it meets the person behind it.
