CHINA - Women in China can now further their studies in a decidedly non-academic subject.
The 德育女学馆 (loosely translated as 'The Moral Education School for Girls') in Beijing, is teaching women how to snag rich husbands.
There is no need for calculators or laptops here.
The curriculum includes courses on how to behave properly, how to put on make up, and how to communicate with rich men.
These lessons are not cheap, either, costing 20,000 yuan (S$3,700) for 10 to 30 classes.
The school's spokesperson, Ting Zhenyu, acknowledges the hefty pricetag, but says it is still 'value-for-money'.
The school focuses on teaching skills on how to be a 'charming lady', said Ting.
Since August last year, the school has attracted 3,000 students aged between 21 to 36. Most are from the middle-class, and some are college students.
Ting says the teachers are top professionals in their fields, including the host of a Beijing radio station, who teaches women how to speak in a "soft and charming voice".
